Yeah... It's very difficult to reconcile Day with a lot of what's come before it. I always cringe when I say this because he's played by the forever marvellous John Hurt, but the special and the War Doctor both really don't work for me on a fundamental (and for the latter personal) level. It's a broken toy where the clockwork pieces inside have been machined too small. Rather than tottering along with lights and a buzz, it sags in stillness and rattles when you shake it. That said, I always look at the War as an exercise in quantum superimposition like Schrödinger's cat. Once the War got declared and everyone had licence to mess about in space-time, it meant that the past, present and future were all up for grabs. As the Time Lords, capture the First Doctor in Totter's Lane and you have your CIA agent several centuries early. As the Daleks, advise the assassination squad sent to dispatch him of their future failures and he'll never get the opportunity to thwart their masterplan. Within all that in-fighting, incarnations and regenerations popped in and out of existence on a daily basis, some Unbound Doctors might only exist thanks to the effects of the War. There are likely thousands of the Doctor's incarnations (both old and new) who were involved or drifted by the conflict as it unfolded. Lives we'll probably never really know because of how temporally unstable they were. All that anarchy and this is just the Doctor. Imagine what they were trying to do with the Master during that time. It would be impossible to tell during that melee of vying timelines who exactly was the "genuine" article, the one that existed before the conflict was started. It's entirely possible that if he ever met the Jacobi!Master, he got dismissed as the Ghost of Christmas Cancelled. A phantom of a timeline that no longer existed after the War ended. Thank you for this. Seriously, as someone else who still has a problem with the idea of the War Doctor (although I love how he is portrayed) this helps my brain. No worries. I love how my brain went:

Lovely cover, very striking. The title is a nice reflection of the War Doctor’s first set too.

Could that individual box title mean more sets could be planned?

Hang on, was the cast already revealed? Could that individual box title mean more sets could be planned? Yes please.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the last line of War Doctor 1 "And only the monstrous survive"? Hearing the inverse from an evil Derek Jacobi could be rather chilling.

Could that individual box title mean more sets could be planned? As they've managed to get Jacobi for the Gallifrey set as well surely a second one isn't entirely outside realm of possibility...

For what it's worth, Gallifrey was the first thing we recorded with Derek...

Like a kid at XMas And I'm glad Bf dosen't usually release much info until stories have actually been recorded, I don't think I could stand all the vague teases and waiting otherwise. The 4th Doctor Adventures must been on series 11 or 12 by now I'm guessing, who knows what they have got planned?

I see that Derek Jacobi is in the Murder on the Orient Express film currently in the cinema playing a character named - Masterman !
Now that is what I call good advertising !!
