I just think it a bit of a shame that if they cannot get a New Series Doctor ie David Tennant in for the recording that Big Finish think it is better to have narration than to use a Classic Series Doctor ie 5, 6 or 7. I would have thought that Classic Doctors : New Monsters would have sold more units than the Churchill Chronicles. However that assumption is based on my own personal preferences and the comments on this forum which is (possibly) more enamoured with the Classic Series than Big Finish’s overall customer base? Classic Doctors: New Monsters didn't end due to sales (I imagine it went over VERY well), Big Finish have stated that the series has ended due to creative reasons - it's too difficult to place other revival monsters within the original series without stretching contiunty. My assumption is that CD:NM was a very good seller in part because it was an amalgamation of old and new Doctor Who. Tales of New Earth could have been a similar project appealing to a broad range of Doctor Who fans. As it is it does not appear to be very well supported on this forum, but I appreciate that we might not be a fair reflection on Big Finish’s actual audience. And they should know their own market.

Mmmm, "creative reasons". A bit like musical differences?

I think it'll do well. Tales of New Earth is an expansion of an memorable setting from the RTD era , so there is already plenty of interest there. Big Finish hasn't put a foot wrong with the revival releases, Big Finish's output is excellent, but their handling of the revival releases has been exceptional even by their own standards.

Personally I think they should have put classic Doctors in this release, and called it Classic Doctors, New Planets - with multiple new series planets rather than just one. I think there would be a much bigger audience for that set than what we are getting.

Normally if it's full cast BF puts "FULL CAST AUDIO DRAMA" on the box and this hasn't got that... So yep, I reckon it's like The Churchill Years. River series three doesn't have it either, nor do the Jago and Litefoot, Gallifrey or War Master Boxsets. I say let's wait and see, although I don't have much hope. That said, the storyline sounds really interesting and I'm thinking about getting it.

Just my two cents: It seems to have a pretty big cast to be all narration.

BF trailers aren't always the best indicatorof what I'll like but I have to say that teaser leaves me feeling ambivalent about a release I was already cold on.

Clunky opening voice-over, damn narration (yuk I hate that style), dulll all round really & just reinforces my opinion that this is not for me. Not at all.

At least it confirms the format and the fact that the Doctor’s presence is in narration only, so at least Big Finish are being upfront in the trailer.

The trailer actually made me quite excited for the release! it has a kind of fairy-tale 'vibe' about it.

Not sold by that trailer. Sounds a bit dull compared to other Big Finish new series releases. Not a fan of the voiceover, and the narration seems like a missed opportunity to record David Tennant voicing the Tenth Doctor for the release during 10DA Volume 2.

If Tennant was in this, there'd be zero reason to not shout it from the rooftops and get sales racked up. I expected it to be like the EA/Churchill sets from day 1.

Even though I'm not particularly a fan of narration (that's why I haven't heard much of the Companion/Doctor Chronicles) I'm still quite excited about this release, especially the conspiracy factor. But, honestly, if Tennant wasn't available, why not do without his Doctor or the Doctor at all in this release? I don't think it needs the Doctor, as it sounds like it can stand on its own. Oh well, despite all that, I think I'm finally sold on the bundle with this, War Master and Gallifrey.

Still a firm meh on this one. I've no objection to narration but trailer just didn't really engage me. If it gets good reviews I may give it a go.

I’m certainly interested in this. Will reserve my judgment till it is out. Though I would have loved to have Tennant in it, I don’t really mind a narration and the Doctor’s part in third person. As long as another actor doesn’t actually play the Tenth doctor, I’m open to it..
