A couple digest films, ie: a series of episodes splice into a 3ish hour "film", have been appearing on Amazon Prime Video. First up is The Haunting of Collinwoodwww.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B008H13U1K/ref=pd_cbs_318_1Barnabas Collins and Dr. Julia Hoffman attempt to uncover the mysterious happenings at the haunted Collinwood estate when the children become possessed by an evil spirit.next up is The Vampire Cursewww.amazon.com/gp/product/B008H0QJ46/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i2Cursed by the scorned witch Angelique, Barnabas Collins rises from the dead as a vampire. He seeks to reclaim his true love and save his family from further destruction.Any thoughts on these? They any good at all? Are there others that may be popping up shortly?

With good editing this could be a great way to introduce the original series to newbies, or people who haven't seen it. I do think a better introduction to Quentin would be the 1897 storyline since he actually speaks on a regular basis and isn't the antagonist of that arc.

These are both available on DVD too. They were made for that very reason--to kind of give complete synopses of the introduction of the two most important monsters of the series--intros for new viewers and condensed plot summaries for longtime viewers.

I'm curious to see if this could be done with other runs of the series.
Off the top of my head, I'd do:
The Haunting of Collinsport (Vicki arrives in town through to the ghosts taking care of Mathew)
The Mystery of the Phoenix (Laura, et al)
The Return of the Vampire (Jason & Willie roll into town, wake Barnabas up, through Jason getting killed off)
The Vampire's Cure (Julia enters the scene, and attempts to cure Barnabas)
~we already have Curse, summing up the 1795 storyline~
The Modern Prometheus (Adam & Eve, Cassandra, Stokes)
~Haunting covers the next bit already~
The Curse of the Werewolf (the 1897 storyline)
The Curse of the Leviathans (The Leviathans storyline)
Tales of a Parallel Time (Parallel Time 1970)
The Vengeance of Gerard Stiles (1995, Stiles, 1840)
The Curse of Collinwood (the 1841 Parallel Time storyline)

Rather wonderfully, individual episodes are now available on Amazon Prime in the UK! Not everything as yet sadly, but it looks like the equivalent of previously released DVD Collections starting with the appearance of Barnabas, but listed as separate "Seasons". Currently up are "Seasons" 1-17 (Episodes 210-898) and then a gap for some strange reason and then 23 (Episodes 1102-1142).

I spend a sizable amount on the complete box set so of course just a few weeks later most episodes pop-up on Amazon Prime. You're welcome, everyone!

I'm sure that this has been mentioned elsewhere, but worth pointing out here that ALL episodes of Dark Shadows are now available on Amazon Prime, including the pre-Barnabas ones, listed separately as The Beginning, in keeping with the DVD box sets.
