not sure if there are any linkages between the two stories (even in references to past events), but from what I could find this story was published in 1980 and the treachery game in 1981 - so I think that's the order I will listen in (just in case)

There isn't an obvious market that I can see, so maybe Big Finish decided to do something a little different. It's not the first time a writer has read their book for audio for Big Finish. The Dark Shadows Dramatic Readings range was kicked off by Lara Parker reading an adaptation of her Dark Shadows novel Angelique's Descent

Mmm, things like Treasure Island and the like do pop up from time to time. I think I'll have a swing at them both when I have the cash, I'm always curious to hear spy stories.

I picked this up in the recent sale after loving The Omega Factor. I suppose there's no reason why these audiobooks should generate much of a discussion, but for what it's worth, I really enjoyed it.
A hidden gem in the Big Finish catalogue - Dan Starkey keeps the story rattling along. Plenty of twists. Another satisfied customer - great value for money.

Would it work as an audio Drama like my Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy stuff?

I assume it would work as a drama, as I believe it was originally a TV script, then novelised, then read as an audiobook. Having said that, I'm not sure car chases would be clear in audio drama. That, and if you want a version you can listen to, this already exists - and it gets inside the heads of the characters in a way that drama can't.
Rumour has it that Mary Tamm was in the TV version. I say rumour, I mean IMDB.
