Hello everyone, hope you are having a wonderful day. I have decided to take the plunge into the unknown and begin watching Twin Peaks for the first time ever. Since this is happening, I have decided to do a weekly watch of each episode and post a run through every time. Now, if anyone remembers my failed attempt at a watch through of the entire Star Trek series, this will not turn out the same, I promise. With the Twin Peaks being so much smaller of a commitment, both time wise and episode wise(Like 2 million less) and having a weekly schedule, I am much more prepared to keep up. Anyways this weekend shall be the start. See you then.

Good luck. I'm sure you know but make sure you watch the US pilot first, not the international version.

I'll be looking forward to hearing about your experiences as you watch the episodes. TV is so binge watched now, but Twin Peaks is really designed to be savored and pondered, so a weekly schedule is ideal.
Also, follow Mrs. Song's advice and watch out for spoilers! There's a lot of wonderful surprises ahead of you.

I don't think I have ever started a Star Wars watch through, but I think I did a Star Trek one... Yeah, I wasn't able to commit with all the hours upon hours needed to commit to a somewhat regular schedule.

Hey guys, I have been hearing about audiobooks that add onto the show. Any info on that? Ha, I've just been looking into these since yesterday! There are three that I know of... "Diane...": The Twin Peaks Tapes of Agent Cooper basically collects the audiotape recordings that Coop makes during the show, and adds a couple extras here and there. I just listened to this one yesterday, and honestly, it's probably not worth the buy. It really doesn't add much to the show. However if you do decide to check it out, definitely do not listen to it till after you've finished the (original) TV series, as it'll spoil a great many things. Naturally, the whole thing is voiced by Kyle MacLachlan (Agent Cooper). The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer was written by David Lynch's daughter, and the audiobook is actually read by Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer) herself. I'm a ways into listening to this one right now and I really like it, but as with "Diane...", it's one that I would definitely hold off on listening to until you're done Seasons 1 and 2. It fills in a whole lot of character details on the Laura, beginning with when she starts writing her diary in 1984 (the show is set in February-March 1989). The third is The Secret History of Twin Peaks. Full disclosure: I haven't heard this one yet, but it's sitting in my iBooks/Audible waiting for me. I'd heard of it before, but hadn't given it much thought until on these forums, in the other Twin Peaks thread, a couple of users were talking about how vital it is in establishing some information for the new/revival season. This was published in October of last year, so it's probably safe to listen to between the end of the original run and the start of the new season this year. This one features voice work by actors from the original series (Kyle MacLachlan/Cooper, Russ Tamblyn/Dr Jacobi, Michael Horse/Hawk, Chris Mulkey/Hank Jennings, and Mark Frost/co-creator of the show) as well as some new actors (including, among others, Robert Knepper).

I'm in the middle of listening to The Secret History of Twin Peaks. It's good, although very dense and dry at parts. And it does seem to tie things in with the return.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

There's also The Autobiography of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes written by Scott Frost. It's pretty much what it says on the tin: the life story of Special Agent Cooper from when he gets his first recorder up until he gets assigned to the Laura Palmer case. It also provides some foreshadowing for the show as some of the characters from the FBI also turn up, Cooper learns some of the deductive methods he applies in the show and there's a few hints that he might know a bit more than he lets on...

The tie in novels are all definitely worth the read/listen. There's a real effort to produce something that enhances the meaning and background of the show. I've been delighted to see all the interesting connections to the new season that The Secret History of Twin Peaks explores and both The Secret Diary and My Life, My Tapes improved my understanding of those characters and their connections to the mythology.

You've put "spoilers" in the thread title. Please don't, you don't want people telling you things you haven't watched yet.

I don't think the Scott Frost book (he's Mark Frost's brother, I believe) is available on audio yet though. Only hard copy. And Amazon has a paperback for a little more than $9,000.00 U.S.!!! What is UP with that??? Like anyone would pay that for a stupid book? I've seen stuff like that on Amazon before and it's usually bogus. The Dark Shadows comic strip book (that was never released, by the way) was listed for $1,999.00 at one time.
There's a new book coming out later this year by Mark Frost-- Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier. It's another official tie-in to the new series--a followup to his first book. I assume it will be released on audio as well.
