The September '15 issue had the GREAT article about the security service's files on Mac Hulke's communist activity.

Can't seem to find it again. Me too, I distinctly remember the article being called "Red Hulke!", but there was also another one waaay back which dealt with Hulke's politics as part of an examination of the Pertwee era as a whole (with stories like The Green Death and Frontier in Space). He was part of the Communist Party of Great Britain for a time, from memory. The stories that seem demonstrate his views most clearly were (rather aptly) his one story for Danger Man and the episode "Concerto" for The Avengers. Both have very sympathetic depictions of Soviet espionage, they're just ordinary people like Steed, Gale and Drake with their own vested interests. Both sides happily cooperate when their concerns align and no one actually hates anyone else based solely on their nationality.

Then, he left it, with his experiences with the party being portrayed in Invasion Of The Dinosaurs.

I never thought of it like that before.
