I would say that DWM is in very safe hands with Marcus Hearn - he has a CV as long as your arm and is a (mainly) horror film historian of considerable repute. I'm a big fan of his.

I was reading one of Hearn's books a few weeks ago. He and Jonathan Rigby are like the McCartney and Lennon of horror

End of a era indeed. I've only ever known DWM under Spilsbury (started getting it way back in 2008, my first issue was the post-Journey's End with the choice of covers, I still have it somewhere). Still change is inevitable and it will be interesting to see what Hearn will bring to the magazine.
