The steampunk western that ended Will Smith's winning streak at the 90s box office, or as the younger among us may know it as, 'that movie with the giant robot spider, because the producer had wanted in in the unmade Nic Cage Superman movie, and just wouldn't give it up'.
But is it really as terrible as all that?

I myself did a review of it, many moons ago, in the early years of my online reviewing career. I wasn't very enthused. youtu.be/i0_toR1Jick

The original television series it was adapted from is actually rather good. It might be one of the first appearances of steampunk as it is recognised today in American television. The premise was that they would do a 1960s spy show with all the tropes associated with that particular era -- in the Wild West. It's very interesting to watch.

It had a lot of potential, but tried to hard to be Men in Black like when it could have been a different thing. Also it had too many writers, so that didn't help

The original television series it was adapted from is actually rather good. Currently showing in the UK on CBS Action. I've said in the past that this would be a great series for BF to adapt. As for the movie.... I think the best comparison is with "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" as a good 'bad movie'. Mind you, the comedy racism/lynching scene is *very* misjudged.

It's not perfect but it's a easy watch i guess That's my feeling also, as long as you don't concentrate, it's a fun film, but don't expect anything else.

original television series was very good, I got the lot on DVD. the film I'm sorry to say put a lot of folk off watching the tv show Black and White (season 1)| Color (seasons 2-4) I give it 2/10 if you look at the film that it not trying to copy the show than 4/10

I liked the original show a lot, so much so that what little I heard about the movie when it came out turned me off. Thus, I never saw it and have no intention of doing so.

Did not know until reading this thread that there was a show at all. I’ll have to check it out because i love the concept. Cold War spy shit in the frontier; sign me up. But that movie. Oh that movie. It’s the kind of movie you see when you’re 8 and love but still can’t understand who would make such an atrocity.
