I can't see too many readers of this sub-forum agreeing with this post.

Duchovny always had a monotone delivery in The X-Files. One of the many reasons why I couldn't sit through an entire episode of that program.
The problem I have with the Dark Shadows audios has nothing to do with the American actors (all of whom are terrific, particularly Lara Parker), but the British actors trying to do American accents. Some of the performances in Bloodlust are embarrassingly bad for that very reason.

There's only about three people in Bloodlust not using their own natural accent. All of whom I think are terrific - each to their own, of course.

Some of the performances in Bloodlust are embarrassingly bad for that very reason. I respectfully, but strongly, disagree. I'm American, and I think the few British actors who have done American accents have done a really superb job. The American accent is a tough one to master so I'm always impressed when it's done well. I suspect that some of the actors who you thought British are actually American! As bobod said, there are really not that many. It's a matter of opinion I suppose, but IF some of the ones you've picked out are actually Americans, then it could be that you've detected tiny hints of British tone/inflections that American actors living in the UK may have picked up since leaving the States. Anyway, just had to show support for Bloodlust, which in my opinion was an overwhelming successful triumph--all around. Hell, let me extend that--I have found NO bad American accents in ANY Big Finish Dark Shadows productions. Have there been a few (very few) slight inflection or colloquial dialogue slips? Of course, as with any production, but they are so infrequent as to be mostly irrelevant, and never distracting. I'm sure even the master of worldwide accents Meryl Streep doesn't get every one exactly right to a Native's ear every time.

I don't even know where to begin with that one! Sweeping generalizations are never on target, and I guess that's the best I can manage, dumbstruck that I am!

I'm American and a harsh critic. But I don't remember any fake American accents used in Bloodlust. The statement is just bizarre to me.

Who did you have an issue with? The only character I had issue with was melody, but I believe she was played by an American actress, correct? The part was played so over the top to me, whereas the same actress played a part in the anniversary story where I thought she did a great job. But in bloodlust that was the only character I found off putting. And not due to an accent.
