I'm suprised we haven't heard anything yet about The Rani coming back. I love Big Finish's new take on the character (particularly in smoothing off the more dramatic edges) and can't wait to hear future adventures with the character. (Fingers crossed for The Time War box set)

On that note I'm rather surprised we haven't had "The Five Renegades" yet, with MacQueen's Master, Redmond's Rani, Hound's Monk, Katy's Iris, and The Doctor (whichever, but I think McGann's would go nicely with that group)

For all the clamouring for Missy to have really been The Rani on TV, I think the reason she hasn't been in many Big Finish (or television stories) stories is that without Kate O'Mara's wonderfully diva-like presence, the character just isn't really that interesting. I was really excited that Siobhan was taking over the role - she's a great actress, and apparently Kate O'Mara's choice. However, and I don't wish to annoy anyone with what is just my opinion, she just doesn't bring anything at all to The Rani. If we had an actress willing to inject the role with some real menace, or eccentricity, or dare I say passion, then I'd love to hear more from her. As it is, I'm not terribly bothered - should BF recast? Jacqueline Pearce might well be too well known for other things - how about Tracy Ann Oberon?

I know she suggested recasting, I don't think she suggested anyone though. I think the idea of Siobhan came from her performance in a previous audio.

I'm sure I remember hearing, perhaps in a podcast, that Kate had suggested Siobhan. I'm not 100% sure though

I had always thought we'd have an audio with her and the Seventh Doctor by now, it seems a little overdue. In the absence of Redmond, i would quite enjoy hearing Carolyn Seymour in the role! Or maybe (don't bite my head off) it's time for something a bit different...perhaps its time for the Raj to make an appearance, now that would be a cliffhanger!

I hope The Doctor doesn't do anything to make him angry. He'd have radge Raj rage.

The Rani is due back next Thursday as long as her bus from Clapham is on time.

I've really be wondering this too. I'm surprised she wasn't in one of the boxsets by now.

I know The Rani Elite was popular, but I don't think that Planet Of The Rani was a great success. All the same, I enjoyed it.

It was good to have some BF Rani stories. So I think we need more Rani stories, and we most definitely need more Siobhan Redmond!

I hope that The Rani will be in the Eighth Doctor Time War series.
An evil scientific genius would love the possibilities offered by the Time War and I am sure the Time Lords would welcome her back.

I may be in the minority but I think the Rani has hugely untapped potential as a character. In between doing my uni work I've been working on a single audio drama (just for fun of course!) called The Rani: Origins which sees the Rani travelling back through her time stream and forced to relive certain moments in her life and how and why she became the Rani that we know. I was pretty proud of it to be honest! I'm going off on a tangent here, but what I'm trying to say is I do think the Rani could hold a story or even a series up on her own. Unlike the Master I wouldn't say she's an outright villain, she's a scientist and I'd certainly be interested to here what scrapes she gets herself into without the Doctor around!

Popping her into a McGann story is also a good fit cause she'd probably be able to motivate him off of the bench. After all, she's an old friend and would likely be committing small scale atrocities on test subjects. He helps when he can but he doesn't fight. Fits that criteria well enough.
