DOCTOR WHO - MAIN RANGE » 232. THE MIDDLEReleased November 2017SynopsisIt’s L/Wren Mrs Constance Clarke’s birthday – and Flip is determined to make it an anniversary to remember. The futuristic colony of Formicia, where the pampered populace pass their days in endless leisure, seems the perfect place for a ‘Wren Party’. But all is not as it seems. Looking down from the Middle, the skyscraping tower that ascends as far as the colony ceiling, Formicia’s overseers can see that the Doctor doesn’t fit in – and it’s not just his coat that makes him conspicuous... “The End is the Beginning,” say the propaganda-like posters all over Formicia. Because to be part of this perfect society comes at a price. And the Doctor's already in arrears. Written By: Chris Chapman Directed By: Jamie Anderson CASTColin Baker (The Doctor), Lisa Greenwood (Flip Jackson), Miranda Raison (Mrs Constance Clarke) Other cast details to be confirmed

I love the idea of a Wren Party. What on Formicia is the Doctor wearing while being led on by the bipedal bovine?

I wonder if we'll see Six off stage for awhile and the bulk of the narrative will be on Flip and Constance? I wonder if we might see Big Finish revisit some of the darker aspects of Season 21, as well.....

The trailer sounds rather marvellous, I'm rather looking forward to it. I love that blurb as it holds a lot back. No spoilers! Hope you enjoy. Are we getting Season 22 done right? Chris if this isn't the cracker it sounds like I'm going to eat my rainbow coat. Wasn't that technically Project: Twilight? Evelyn covered in blood and internal organs from exploding corpses, mutilation of innocent girls by gangsters, shattered bone from smiling evils, shotgun blasts to the chest, the rotting carcasses of various unfortunate animals, farms where human cattle are sold for their flesh... Grim, ghoulish and populated with sadistic adversaries, you can't get more Season 22 than that. Interestingly (and I think I made this observation years ago), if you look at Sixie's first line up, there are a lot of stories which you can interpret as a recreation of television stories' premises: - The Spectre of Lanyon Moor emulates the Hinchcliffe/Holmes era like Revelation of the Daleks;
- The Apocalypse Element has a very prominent structural similarity to Attack of the Cybermen in Earth/Archetryx and Telos/Gallifrey.
- Bloodtide pits a familiar set of adversaries against historical figures much like The Mark of the Rani;
- Project: Twilight is a long commentary on the gore and grim atmosphere of pretty much any Season 22 story, but the best fit here would be Vengeance on Varos, and;
- The Sandman is the final step on that road to recovery with another attempt at a story like Mindwarp with a deliberately untrustworthy and malevolent Doctor.

Wow, that's the best trailer I've heard in a long time. Looking forward to this. It reminds me a lot of Morris' Festival of Death.

Is that Mark Heap, or someone who sounds really like him?

Oddly, they've not yet announced the cast. But it does sound a lot like Mark Heap, doesn't it?

You know it is coming up on the end of the year when we can start talking about the final Main Range trilogy of the year and the adventures of the 6th Doctor.

What on Formicia is the Doctor wearing while being led on by the bipedal bovine? Really late joke, but maybe he was trying to build a Gundam mecha cosplay?
