Hey everyone,
I thought this might be a fun topic: reimagine either a new series or an original series story in a 'classic' context or new series or a story with a different Doctor and companion and within the tone of the era. I could easily see Army of Ghosts/Doomsday as a Third Doctor story, for instance.

Well it has to be Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead with 4th and Romana. That would be perfect

An Unearthly Child as a new series episode would be a one parter starring the 12th Doctor, Clara, Danny and Courtney Woods with Courtney Woods no longer being a human character but a mysterious alien one. The first 15 minutes would be Clara and Danny following Courtney home and ending up in the junkyard where they are kidnapped by the 12th Doctor and taken to the cavemen era with some kind of monster of the week (Pyrovile perhaps).

I can easily imagine the 6th Doctor commanding "The Empty Child" to go to his room. But if Eric Saward had been script editor on "The Doctor Dances", then everybody would have died at the end.

The 2nd Doctor in "The Lodger" 3 and Jo in "Tooth And Claw" but not making that bet. 4 and Leela in "Impossible Planet/ Satan Pit" 5 in "World War III": getting Rose back at the wrong time, not being able to promise Jackie that Rose would be safe 6 in "Dalek"... oh, wait... 7 in "Blink"
10, conversely (ha!), would have been terrific in "Warrior's Gate" I think 9 would be a good - or, at least, interesting - fit for 3's exile on Earth: 3 gets a bad rap for being a snob, but in "Silurians" and "Carnival Of Monsters" we see that he is a bit of a radical. I'd like to 11 going after "The Key To Time."

(night time on Telos, the Doctor broods at the table and Victoria fidgets. He turns with a rebuke on his lips but pauses) "What's on your mind?" "You're so old...." "If you're going to be insulting I can easily take you home" "No, not that. You're probably so old you can't remember your family" "My family.... The only place they live now is my memory. But they live there for as long as I live. And for all the bad memories ... That's the power of memories. You control what y keep and what you forget." "I'm sorry" (The Doctor puts his sunglasses on) "Victoria. Life is terrible. It's hard and it's full of terrible events. But it's also full of beauty. full of magic and majesty. And all those events, terrible and amazing become your memories. And you choose what's worth keeping. You can remember Daleks or you can remember laughter. You can remember Cybermen or you can remember ,.. Remember the look on Jamie's face when we joked about his kilt" "I suppose" "No one in the universe can do what we do. Think about that. Think about all thr amaxing things we can see and do" "But you said there's also terrors...." "Some corners of the universe have bred the most terrible things. But they've also brought forth the most wonderous"

(Davros sits in his appropriated lab aboard his prison ship, the door opens and a man in a leather coat and bandolier walks in) "Doctor" "Don't call me that" "Doct-Tor" "I haven't come as your prisoner. But rather your executioner" (Davros laughs. He's still laughing as the man in the bandolier repeatedly shoots him and then flushes his corpse out into space just to be sure)

(The Controller for the UK zone thinks he has scored a coup, capturing the Daleks worst enemy the Doctor. The Doctor has since proven himself quite the guest, a tornado of barely contained fury delivering cutting remark and rebuke after cutting remark and rebuke. He certainly hasn't touched his grapes and the less said about what he did with the wine the better)
"I have saved lives" "You're a traitor, a QUISLING! I've had about enough of you and your excuses" (The Man in the Bandolier promptly head butts the Controller and kicked the guard in the balls for good measure) "Tell your masters I'm coming."

"It s vitally impotent that you listen. If you taken nothing else away, do not blink! Hmm, no, whatever you do, do not blink"
"Jamie ... If you value you life. DONT BLINK!"
"Lethbridge-Stewart show some of that discipline of yours, don't blink until I say so, if you do we're doomed!"
"Jsnus thorns won't work Leela. How do you kill stone?" "With a hammer!"

Well it has to be Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead with 4th and Romana. That would be perfect Oh, it'd be different. I can't see Romana being taken in by Doctor Moon for a second ("You really must stop all this nonsense you know") and then being rather sweet with Cal and there would have been the inevitable tantilising tease about Galifery. K9 would probably be taken out early in the story by the Vasda Narda to set the mood.

What's interesting is that I don't see most of those working. 2 would never just bide his time like that when people are being killed (we think) upstairs. If the bet in Tooth And Claw isn't made, we don't get Rose and The Doctor embarrassing themselves and then there is no Torchwood. 4 and Leela? "I believe in her!"? Nope. Don't see it happening with those two. Five in WW III? Ok, sort of. I guess the Slitheen are better than the Myrka. But just. 6 in Dalek...hmm...well, ok. 7 in Blink, well, I didn't see it at first but I guess it could work.

Interesting point about 2, hadn't considered that. 3 would be able to fit in beautifully and still make the same sort of of joke about Jo's "nakedness" that 10 did about Rose and would have the bonus of maybe being able to take on the monks with some Venusian aikido. 4 and Leela feel a good fit because of the setting and theme match up a bit with "Face Of Evil," "Robots Of Death" and "Image Of The Fendahl." 5 and 9 share the same basic gentleness, honesty and love of life-forms. 6 was a joke about "Jubilee." 7 would be a good fit for "Blink" because his stories featured a fair bit of the "timey-wimey" plotting that he excelled at.

I can picture the Ninth Doctor in Kinda, with the Mara playing on his survivors guilt and more violent impulses. Jack falls asleep under the wind chimes, is tormented by his con-artist past and his desire to repent, and is taken over by the Mara. The Mara possessed Jack uses his charm to possess Aris (odds are Jack's now dressed, or undressed, like the male Kinda, and seduced him). Rose deals with Hindle in the Dome. The Doctor rejects the Mara by coming to peace with himself.

Conversely: (the controller for the UK zone has scored a coup, capturing the Daleks worst enemy the Doctor. The Doctor has since proven himself quite the ideal guest, a deep ocean of poltiteness and musical accompaniments. He devoured the grapes with unseemly joy but eshued the wine) "I have saved lives" "I'm sure you have, and that your terribly proud of that. but ... For the Daleks. (Hound-Dog eyes) There is a word for people like you, (steel enters his voice) Quisling. Traitor. (Steel is replaced by a deep melancholy) And I think it's just sad. Sad that you're proud and sad that you had to do it in the first place. (The steel returns) and I'm going to do everything in my power to stop them. If you'd be so kind to tell them that when you wake up" "wake up?" "NOW JAMIE!" (Jamie clobbers the controller with the jug of wine)

Second Doctor: "We are fighting for our rights, our freedoms" "Well that's good. It's right that you should. But you're just killing. Neighbours killing neighbours all in the name of freedom. No one wins when neighbours fight neighbours. How could you? How do you measure that victory? What is left in that world? Is there music? Is there laughter? What will you do when someone comes along who is "right" and fighting for their freedoms?" "We win" ( he looks at her, a deep sadness in his eyes) "How?" (Silence) "Do you have children Miss Zygon? I know Katherine does" "No" "Amazing creatures children. Amazing and terrifying. A child sees no issue in destroying something solely because they cannot have it. It makes perfect sense to them. Do we as adults allow them to do so, even if it makes sense to them?" "We aren't children" "Are you sure? You're lashing out at th world because I doesn't do what you want it to." "We have gone too far to turn back" "NO!" (There is real steel in his voice) "If you go on thinking like that nothing changes. There is never a moment where you cannot say "no more". It gets harder to do so, true, but that just means it takes more courage to do so. All it takes is one person to answer fear with hope, to answer hate with love. You forgive, even the worst actions. Will you? (Looks at Kste, who can't meet his eye) Will you? (Zygon-Zoe can't meet his eye either). (There is silence) well, it looks like you agree on one thing. (More silence) well, in that case I'll do it. I forgive you. You tried to kill me. I forgive you. You tried to kill my friends. I forgive you. You broke my recorder, I forgive you (there is a small smile at the innocence of the last comment from Zygon-Zoe). As my friend Jimmi says, when the love of power is replaced by the power of love, there will be peace."

(The War Doctor stalks around the Moment, getting frustrated. He hears something outside, goes to look. He turns back and sees a short elfin girl, no older then 16 sitting coquettishly on the Moment) "Good god." "Not quite" "Not that face, anything other than her face" (he turns away) "Does the Doctor find this less threatening?' (an older voice asks. The War Doctor turns to see a silve haired gentleman sitting in a dignified manner on the Moment) "Ian?" "Is that who I am Doctor? I chose this face for a reason. Do you know what that reason is Doctor?" "Don't call me that. I haven't been that man for a long time" "Hence this face. I knew the Doctor when you were younger. Or was it older? I can never tell.." "You're so much older" "So are you. But only one of us is wiser." "Heh" "I was three the first time you thought that killing was the only option. Do you remember?" "This is different" "is it?" "Of course it is. That was a rash decision. This is different. All of time and space burn. Billions die and worse every second. Well, someone has to stop it" "No more" "What!?" "No More. Those words echo I your head louder than even Doctor. No More." "Stop" (the War Doctor hisses) "Two little syllables. No More. Doc Tor. II An. Mo Ment. Odd how it all comes down to two syllables. Life. Death. Two syllables. Are you ready to make it one syllable?" "I'm ready" "Are you sure? First Do No Harm. That's the oath they all swear. They swear it in your name, Doctor. Are you ready to at last do harm?" "I don't expect to survive. So is hardly going to be an issue" "Well then. That'll be your price. You get to live" "No...." "Yes. I wonder ...." "What?" "I wonder what you'll become after you make that single syllable, that single choice...."

I'm loving what you're writing bumbles. There is some great stuff here.
Would you be able to do the Zygon Inversion with either Seventh or Eighth?
