These are my top favorites Find and Replace - Jo Grant The Glorious Revolution - Jamie McCrimmon The Last Post- Liz Shaw Mastermind- The Master Peri and the Piscon Paradox - Peri Brown Return of the Rocketmen- Steven Taylor Transit to Venus- Ian Chesterton That's a great list, I'd also add: 'The Flames of Cadiz' - Ian and Susan, a gripping 'Lucarotti-esque' 4 part First Doctor historical by Marc Platt. The Oliver Harper / Steven Trilogy - 'The Perpetual Bond' and 'The Cold Equations' are superb, 'The First Wave' is very good. Peter Purves is wonderful (always) as is Tom Allen as Oliver. A range highlight for me. 'Old Soldiers' - the one and only CC starring the one and only Brigadier.'The Scorchies' - Jo Grant and some unique villains! A nostalgia- stuffed delight especially for UK children of the 1970s. 'Solitaire' - Charley and a famous guest villain. Not like a CC - a fully acted two-hander play. Bonus suggestion: 'Night's Black Agents' - Jamie and the Sixth Doctor. Part of the unmissable Sixie / Jamie MR 'trilogy', a very good story with an enthralling guest performance by Hugh Ross. EDIT: And one I forgot because I don't think of it as a CC, more of a range pilot - 'The Mahogany Murderers', Jago and Litefoot as perfect as if their years away had never been. Not entirely! He also appears in The Three Companions, part of The Specials box set (which also includes The Mists of Time and Freakshow) (EDIT: And for my 700th post, I talk of the dearly missed Brigadier, who happened to meet all 7 of the classic Doctors on screen at one point or another - the '7' for my hundred... I know it's a stretch, but I like patterns in numbers and this one is the only one I can find )

I always think of that as a one-off serial, spread across those MR releases but I do also have it in The Specials so, yes, definitely a supersized CC...

I'll give an "unrecommendation" for Beyond the Ultimate Adventure.
In terms of positives, I like the Zoe quad: Echoes of Grey, The Memory Cheats, the Uncertainty Principle, and Second Chances. Really fascinating look at Zoe post-War Games even more than the tales of her travels with the Doctor.

Beyond the Ultimate Adventure is completionists only. Poor Colin is served drivel in that one, the worst French accent ever on audio, and nothing even remotely good about it. I'd rate it as THE worst Big finish Audio ever.

I'd rate it as THE worst Big finish Audio ever. It's Terrance Dicks playing with his toy box and there's no singing. The second half even plays out like The Five Doctors. Any surprise this is the most recent "original" audio he wrote?

Can anyone advise regarding the four Leela Companion Chronicles?
They are all written by Nigel Fairs who collaborated with Louise Jameson on the Fourth Doctor Adventure The Abandoned which was by far my least favourite release of series 3.

The first three form a connected trilogy, through the framing sequence. They aren't as tight as the Sara Kingdom Home Truths stories though. The Catalyst is good, as is Empathy Games (it was released before Hunger Games, before you ask). Time Vampire is confusing, but at least comprehensible. The Child was intended to start another trilogy, but the Fourth Doctor full casts were a regular range by then and the only Fourth Doctor story after that concluded the 50th anniversary Stoyn trilogy. With these stories, particularly Time Vampire and The Child, Nigel Fairs comes off as style over substance for me. David Warner is the guest actor in Empathy Games, btw.

I have all the Romana CCs so I keep thinking that I should get the Leela ones to complete the Fourth Doctor with Big Finish, but reading the reviews on **** ****** these do seem a bit "marmite"...

So I guess download rights for the first series of Companion Chronicles are like the Benny range and stuck in limbo?

Do the 5 Zoe stories form a connected set of stories? Yes, well the framing narratives do.

I've never done Companion Chronicles before. Should I take the plunge and take advantage of the sale? What stories do I absolutely have to listen to?
