Nope, not yet. My best guess is the final two Short Trips are one with Ruth and one with Hex. We've had a Liv ST and there's a Constance one coming up. We've even had one with Rufus Hound as the Monk (How to Win Planets is in the top five of Short Trips for me). A Hex one is entirely possible. C'rizz would have been a good candidate for a Short Trip, seeing things through his perspective. I think Nick Briggs mentioned in one of the Podcasts that Conrad Westmaas has retired from acting, unfortunately.

Please let it be that Hex's return is in a Short Trip... Has the Daphne Ashbrook recording been matched to a release yet? Well, we are getting a few UNIT releases this year...

C'Rizz isn't my favorite character but I would still really like to hear a Short Trip from him.

Ive got a feeling that Hex’s return might be in a Short Trip, seeing as theres still two to be announced. Please let it be that Hex's return is in a Short Trip... Big Finish haven't announced any Seventh Doctor short trips yet and the character would be very well-suited to a Short Trip, so it's a strong possibility.

These sound really good. We're in reassuring hands with Guy Adams, I think. {Spoiler} It seems Mel's life since originally leaving the Doctor might be coming back to haunt us all. Mark Morris's story in particular sounds something I will really enjoy - urban horror in Doctor Who is always welcome. The Fifth and Sixth Doctor ranges are firing on all cylinders at the moment; it looks like The Seventh Doc might be about to follow suit.

Eh, I trust Big Finish to do something different. All the stories so far have been very Season 24-esque with a darker melchaony attached, if the arc is (seemingly) coming to an end, it makes sense to make it more prenounced... Really looking forward to this. Love what they've done with Mel in these stories.

They’ve intrigued me but I’ve not actually stepped into the Seventh Doctor Ace and Mel adventures yet, is it worth starting with A Life of Crime or are there any particular highlights?

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! Trust me, there great. Without going into spoilers, it handles the aftermath of the Hex arc without being too baggage heavy for new listeners brilliantly, I can't say much about Mel, but trust me it's great and Ace's is a very intresting (and realistic) place post-Hex. You are The Doctor and Other Stories lays the groundwork for the arc, so I'd suggest giving it a listen beforehand.

I’ve heard that they’re pretty weak, the characterisation is all over the place and they completely underuse Mel. I’ve not heard them myself, so I don’t know but that’s what is said by everyone I ask.

It's a great follow on, Mel's presence is a huge factor and important to Seven's future and I didn't have any issues with the characterisation, either. Felt very natural progression of events out of the Hex arc.

Nothing standout as of yet, and as mentioned characterisation flip flops to suit the story the writer is doing. Fiesta of the Damned is the best one IMO.

I just don't get the compliants I've heard mentionced in the Seventh Doctor speculation thread. Big Finish is deeply collobarative, the Seventh Doctor stories have the same producer, there not ignoring the Hex stories, just letting events follow through with them without explicitly refering to Hex for new listeners (as was the plan), but his absence is very much felt. Big Finish have never ignored their own contiunty before, so why start now?

Yeah, most people have told me that Fiesta of the Damned is the best one too. This seems to be the general consensus amongst most people. A Life of Crime is fun, but there's a potential character angle that never plays out that could have made things a whole lot more interesting. With Maker of Demons the writer seems to spend more time trying to show how clever he is with Shakespeare references. High Price of Parking is firmly season 24 in tone, Blood Furnace unremarkable and Silurian Candidate has the writer fanjodrelling with continuity references while playing on tired Seventh Doctor tropes and a one dimensional character blatantly based on a politician prolific for all the wrong reasons. Fiesta of the Damned is set in Spain during the Spanish Civil War and is written by Guy Adams (the latter is always a good thing). Easily the best of the six so far.

Mel's past catches up with her ... could this mean the long awaited appearance of Tony Selby as Glitz? Fingers crossed, but not holding my breath

Fingers crossed, but not holding my breath Honestly, I think if Big Finish were going to get Tony Selby, we'd have heard him by now. It's the big strange universe, though. I could see Glitz swapping bodies to get out of tight spot and leaving some associate or poor innocent to his fate.

Eh, I think Mel was handled fantastically in A Life in Crime, Mel saw the harshness of the universe and didn't change. She went through the fire, got burnt, felt the pain and stayed true anyway, in contrast of Seven. Maker of Demons did kind of overdo it, but Stephano's actions reflected Seven's and echoed the whole 'can't go home again' theme of this arc with Season 24-style stories infused with barely contained melchaony. This theme continued in the darkness and at times cruel absurdity of the universe in High Price of Parking. Seven's risk and gambles and machinations were reflected in actions of Stuart, as were the antagonists of the story in The Blood Furnance. The Silurian Canditate was a good place to end the arc for the year - reflecting that despite not wanting to, Seven and Ace can't go back to where they were.
