According to this month's Vortex, Paul McGann will be moving to a three-box-set-per-year schedule, with the Time War occupying one slot and the Doom Coalition follow-up getting the traditional two sets per year.
Interesting development, to my mind. Thoughts?

Three per year? That's a surprise....that's one more than the last few years IIRC, and I was under the impression that his output would be decreasing due to the job he got on some soap.

I noticed that it is stated in Vortex that the time war set takes place 'many years after the events of Doom Coalition and it's imminent sequel' (yay! I want the lead in to the time war to last as long as possible...and three boxsets a year can only be a good thing...), both Dark Eyes and Doom Coalition felt like they were gradually leading to the time war in scope and tone, with all the timey wimey epic storylines...now we will be getting those in the time war sets anyway, I'm wondering if the DC follow up might be a bit smaller in scale (after all, the Doctor Liv and Helen just saved the entire future of the universe from being destroyed...could you actually go more 'epic' than that?), perhaps the search for Helen will be part of the arc rather than a simple cliffhanger resolved early on...
I'm wondering if A)she will retain any of the Sonomancer's powers she gained and B) whether the 11 had any back up plans after Padrac's plan fell through, also wondering if Liv will being written out after this run of boxsets, I love the character but she'll probably have more stories than both Lucie and Charley by the end of the DC follow up...
I'd expect Cardinal Ollistra, and perhaps Romana to make a guest appearance or two to tie in with the lead up to the time war.

Oh wow, that is a pleasant surprise. I had expected one set of each story a year, but can't complain at more Paul McGann.

According to wiki McGann started filming for that soap (Holby City) in August 2016, making his first screen appearance in December 2017, soaps are filmed quite quickly and far ahead of release, and he's been able to fit in BF and appearances at conventions fine so far, perhaps he has BF gaps written into his contract. At least 12 1 hour stories a year, if anything it seems we getting more 8th Doctor than ever before...

Except that never really made sense to me. An actor with a regular gig is one you have an easier time scheduling. Its when the actor is guesting here and there while getting the odd film job is when the schedule becomes a nightmare. Anyway, more 8 is a good thing.

This thread inspired me to read the Time War article...as has already been said this is great news - more McGann the merrier!
Two sets a year for the Doom Coalition follow up should change the dynamic of these ranges t least to my mind. Where I thought that we would have two series for the Eighth Doctor running concurrently now this appears to be an ongoing series with occasional glimpses of the Time War.
Three boxsets a year - Happy, happy, happy!

Great news. There's no such thing as too much McGann.
I'm looking forward to whenever we get the first details on the Doom Coalition follow-up.

More McGann is always a good thing. I'm just hoping this serves as a jumping on point (I'm three boxsets behind on the ongoing Eighth Doctor), unless of course there's a sale to help me catch up...

Well, it's official. With Big Finish we will literally never run out of stories. Brilliant.

This is beyond exciting. And NO! Liv cannot be written out. I think she's falling for Helen and I want to listen more and more as regardless of script I think Nicola is playing it that way. I've been watchin a lot of her Telly work and she is very good at subtlety. And I would really like a 6 and 8 double doctor story. They are having more and more in common lately. Although I am not a huge fan of Flip the fact that 6 has Modern and past and 8 has future and past I find interesting.
Or maybe the Doctor just works better having a female dynamic duo with him. He's been doing it since his 5th incarnation after all!

I love Vortex and always read it, however if it is an article on something I have pre-ordered I often don't read it until I have listened to discs. Now stop that sobbing it is really not becoming!!!

I recently re-listened to the entire DC run and I think I agree about Liv/Helen, there's enough subtext in the performance for me to think there's something quite moving developing there beyond mere friendship (though I had the opposite impression-I think Helen is falling for Liv...), no idea where it is all leading (and I assume I will be proven completely wrong), but I hope it's a happy ending (or as happy as it can be for a 8th Doctor audio companion) the characters have had so much tragedy they deserve that much, wondering if/how much powers Helen has inherited from the Sonomancer...
