So, seen odd references and mentions to this across many discussions on here, so I wanted some clarification on if there was going to be a new TV show or not?

Many attempts by the rights holders have been made to revive the show. They all appear to have failed at various stages, one attempt seems to have failed after SyFy had agreed to go ahead and scripts had been written.
But as of now, it appears nothing is happening.

Yes, there have been a million and one teases by the various rights holders that it's coming back. I think the last was the Freemantle. Syfy collab which died. It would have been a US remake with Martin Campbell involved.
I'm not sure there's much need to remake it, if only because the premise itself is broad enough to be quite easy to develop as an original concept and not have to pay anyone - band of rebels on the run from a galactic federation....the basic idea has been done a million times. Paying for the rights when going going bigger budget - seems a risk given that it's not anywhere near as well known internationally as DW (or Battlestar, the best example of remaking a 70s sci-fi) and hasn't endured as quite the same cult classic.
Would love Tom Cavanagh as Avon though!

I heard they planned an American movie at one point. That true?

Of all the TV sci-fi series that could be rebooted, I think B7 is the one most deserving. I'm not sure whether a full reboot, a sequel series, or a parallel series would be best, but (done correctly) B7 has tremendous untapped potential even after four seasons on television, plus books and audio.

As A Rebellion Reborn shows it can definitely work in the kind of tone science fiction tends to have these days. That theme music will never to topped though.

I heard they planned an American movie at one point. That true? Martin Campbell spearheading an American television series, from memory. I think it fizzled out after 2012-13. Shame, that would've been interesting to see. Edge of Darkness's "Northmoor" felt a lot like a Blake's 7 episode (helped by an appearance by Brian Croucher).

Well I kind of want a Blake 7 Movie now lol

I think the US B7 idea was always a bit silly. The idea isn't - unless you're totally married to the characters - unique enough that you couldn't do an original show on a similar premise (Firefly, anyone?) and the original show doesn't have the kind of name cache in the US where it would add value rebooting it as a recognisable property.

Farscape definitely comes pretty close, if we're talking original properties. Anti-heroic, escaped convicts on an alien ship with its own agenda? Check. Totalitarian, antagonistic spacefleet oppressing most of known space? Check. Off-the-wall interpretations of familiar sci-fi tropes? Check, and I'm going to need a broom. The links to Doctor Who even manage to squeeze their way through with things like Crichton's namesake (from Invasion of the Dinosaurs) and a redheaded crewmen whose screams can melt metal (*cough* Mel *uncough*).
