Hi Sparked by the recent excitement of Shada, I'm asking please for recommendations of Fourth Doctor audios. Now before you jump in I do have the following: * The Lost Stories Box Set - very good, especially enjoyed The Foe From the Future * 4DA Series 1 and 2 - I thought these were OK but underwhelming, I love Leela and it was good to have a last Romana I Season, but maybe I'm a hard taskmaster?! * The Light of the End - great great great, loved Tom's chemistry with McGann * Philip Hinchcliffe Presents: Vol 1 - I couldn't get through the first episode, sadly  which is a pity as I loved The Talons of Weng-Chiang * Novel Adaptations - Loved all 3, I love Season 17 but I am in two minds as to order Series 5 (and possibly 6) is it really good? * The Fate of Krelos/Return to Telos - not at all impressed, sadly * The Beast of Kravenos - really liked this little Jago & Litefoot reunion * Night of the Vashta Nerada - Really enjoyed this one, I will be dipping back into the 4DA year after next as I've ordered Series 8, The Syndicate Masterplan, I'm looking forward to hearing Tom with a brand new companion with no connection to a particular season, plus the fourth series of The Diary of River Song. Are there any other stories/seasons you think i should look at?? Thanks |

The Crocked Man and Cloisters of Terror (good Gothic Horror type tales)
Requim for the Rocket Men/ Death Match (Excellent character pieces)
Season 5 (I wasn't keen on with the exception of the Trouble with Drax which is very good)
Season 6 each is worth getting ( Highlights for me were The Silent Scream, The Eternal Battle and Deathas but overall its a very good season)

I remember liking the one with Virginia Hay. The Doctor and Leela came across especially well in that one.

Some very good recommendations already but a few that I'm particularly fond of that I don't see mentioned yet are Last of the Colophon, The Darkness of Glass, Wave of Destruction and last but by no means least, The Genesis Chamber.

I love it all, even the less awesome ones, but the Lost Stories were great.
His appearance in the old docs-new monst thing is fantastic.
But, I'm not sure I'm a reliable source. The only thing I can say - or just about the only - is that he seemed a little bored in Meglos.

I prefer the horror ones. So enjoyed crooked man, white ghosts, last of colophon, darkness of glass, cloisters, suburban hell, labyrinth of buds, silent scream and haunting of malkin. I also thought the two parter paradox planet with legacy of death was great!
Avoid the abandoned at all cost, you already endured krelos/ telos which was dire. I have to say genesis chamber I thought was awful, it was a chore to get through, and I also really wanted to like helm of awe, but thought the ending was rather stupid. So strong start and off the wall ending, not in a good way.
The casualty of time two parter with romana II was also not great, but it does wrap up cuthbert from romana I stories, but they really were rather bad I thought.
