We all know there will probably be a Back To The Future sequel eventually, whether Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale like it or not.
But instead of the obvious sequel, what if it was a sequel-reboot like Jurassic World? Who would you cast to take over as two new lead characters from Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd? Would they cameo or not? What would the plot be?
This would be mine:
Back To The...Future?
30 years on from the events of the original trilogy, Doc and Clara's kids Jules (Chris Pratt) and Verne (Chris Hemsworth) have long since moved on from the passing of Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd). However one stormy day in 1916 Australia Verne receives a letter from Doc stating that something is very wrong with the year 2015 and he would like him and his brother Jules to meet him in that year so they can work out what to do. Will they get to the source of problem of why there are no hoverboards and flying cars in 2015? And will they find a way to correct the timeline so the mundane 2015 of silly emojis and idiotic scripted reality shows is erased?
Christopher Lloyd would be a cameo appearance.
Also: they'd be using the Jules Verne steam train.

Won't happen until the death of Robert Zemeckis. He has stated he will block any plans for more films/reboot.
To be honest I can't see it working without the original cast.

Personally the only way I can see a film working without the original cast is if Chris Pratt is in it. He has so much charisma and likeability that I think his very presence would get people on-board for a sequel-reboot.

I'm a huge fan of the Back to the Future movies, but I just can't see any reboot or sequel being anything more than a touch disingenuous - another attempt to dig at the consumer's wallet using a well known franchise name.
Could a reboot or sequel be good? Sure, it definitely could. Star Wars pulled It off pretty well. But, again, I can't see myself being able to look past the fact that it'd likely only be done for the name recognition and that'd make the whole idea a whole lot less special to me.

But say there absolutely had to be one, and you were the screenwriter and/or director hired. What would you do for a sequel-reboot? I think that's an interesting question with a BTTF sequel-reboot as we'd all come up with different plots.

For me The BTTF movies are about the relationship between Marty & Doc. Not sure if I could be bothered seeing a belated sequel or a prequel that doesn't have that at its core.

It would need to have Lloyd and Fox in it. Marty can have Parkinson’s or soemthing similar so that Fox could still play the role.

No No No, they are a timeless classic trilogy that doesn't need remaking or rebooting.
Hollywood has p..sed on enough classic movies with there shambolic remakes leave this classic trilogy alone.

Hello everyone! I wouldn't mind a sequel trilogy to 'Back to the Future', but at the same time I'm not in need of one. The original trilogy works well and unless Robert Zemeckis changes his mind about doing a sequel trilogy, I wouldn't want to watch something that won't be good as the original films. If it's going to be an average trilogy, then is it really worth it? Check out my reviews on the 'Back to the Future' trilogy here - bradleybasement.wordpress.com/back-to-the-future/Tim.

Enough with reboots and sequels. Try some originality for a change.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Put beautifully except for the "timeless classic" bit I like the time travel shenanigans in 2 but the series as a whole leaves me bit cold. I would not be interested in further films, either.

Zemeckises contract states he has to approve any new movie- I saw a vid interview last year he basically said it will never happen. I saw No# 1 in the drive in's back in 84.. and 2 and 3 in the cinemas.. Great trilogy
