I feel like this happens literally every week one of these sets is released! I dash in on the Monday to grab it asap, and then they put a sale up two or three days later... I usually get feedback emails from JB Hifi..
OMG If I get 1 for this... Watch This Space..
!
So update: I double checked my bank account yesterday, I noticed I received a AUST $15 refund from www.jbhifi.com.au . They are honouring the di$count difference I paid as a pre order vs the $ale 2 days after the release. Awesome news for me.

I've just seen this from cover artist Lee Binding on Facebook, regarding the Season 9 Collection. Apparently there's an error on the cover - which is news to me, and others, it seems. Anyway, Lee says:
'Hello friends. I've had a couple of DMs about the S9 cover. Yes, I made an error. Yes, I'm as annoyed as you are. Cause, like you, I want these things to be PERFECT. The good news is that it shouldn't be too visible as the crop and the box bend should keep it too much from the front. Fingers crossed. Ha.'
The rest in spoiler tags because it's quite lengthy ...
{Spoiler} 'HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!!!!!!' Welllll annoyingly easy, unfortunately. Covers are made over weeks, and when I open the file to paint, I'm usually in the mindset of 'oh I'm doing this today' or 'I'm doing that today' and the file I was referencing was SO LOW RES that I just saw this shape and went 'oh that's part of the hand' when it was actually a shirt ruffle. D'oh. We have five people checking these images, and no-one spotted it. IN FACT, someone said 'oh don't forget he wears a ring on that finger' so I actually added a ring to it. I mean, even you must be able to see the ironic funny side of that. 'Well. Can you reprint!?' Unfortunately no. These things are made in... I believe China? Months in advance. They're on their way here now. And, like I say, it shouldn't be toooo visible due to the way the box is cropped. Unless one of you wants to engage in a bit of piracy and take over the ship and junk the stock, go for it. It'll only delay release by a couple of months, maybe a year. I've updated the artwork for all other releases. It should be fine for US and Standard as they're different crops, and I've attached it to this post so you can see how easy it would have been to confuse when you're zoomed in so much. 'Well this isn't good enough!' Yes. No? Possibly. Before the pitchforks are raised and torches are lit, I'd like to remind you that everyone who works on these sets do it for the love of the show and for the best product. We're often working solo to keep costs down to give you, yes you, the best value for money and the best product as a result. I'm not saying that as an excuse, I'm saying this for context. It's just me, trying to give you the best product and the best experience possible. So you're damn right I'm taking this personally cause I want the best for ALL of us. Hopefully this will be consigned to one of the ridiculous blips like the green K9 toy and the wrong Master on the steelbook cover. Hopefully you understand just pure human error. Hopefully you're gonna love this set anyway, and The Collection as a whole. And hopefully, we're still going to wow you with more and more Collection sets in the future. I hope that clears that up for you.

Actually ties in with 1 of the few crumbs on Twitter from the Collection Panel at Gally 1 Producer Russell Minton "Confessed" that the gap between UK and International Release is so any minor errors that are missed on UK Releases can be fixed wherever possible. EDIT Excellent excuse for miss-print though Regards mark687

Those of us in the US are still waiting for Hartnell's second season to be released. My copy is pre-ordered but I won't receive it before the end of March.
Then I'll know whether the Beatles scene made it in this time (in the US, it didn't for the DVD)

Well well well. Unbelievable that no one picked it up. Bad cover anyway compared to others.

Just had a message from HMV, bless 'em, who tell me the Season 9 Collection has been dispatched. This makes me happy 😁

I'm hoping for Season 4 getting released this year. With the Smugglers being animated, that leaves the Highlanders as the only serial left to be animated for that season. I'm not really interested in buying them all individually.

New video! Good grief! It's here already! The just-released but delivered early thanks to HMV Season 9 reviewed, a look at the full set, thoughts on each serial and the usual nonsense..

It's another stunningly packaged set of three amazing stories and two okay ones! The thrill is deciding which of the many extras to dive into first. I've gone for Behind the Sofa, which is always great fun, especially when the Fifth Doctor's team are involved (as they are here). I'm finding Peter Davison's views on Jon's playing of the role fascinating (he's never watched a Third Doctor story before) for Day of the Daleks, and I look forward to what he has to say about the rest of the stories.

Forgive me quoting myself, but I've just been watching the Behind the Sofa doc for The Sea Devils, and I have to take issue with my friend Mr Davison. He's being a bit picky about the Sea Devils themselves, pointing out how to costumes don't work because the actors' heads are obviously in the neck of the costume. Hold on a minute - have you forgotten those bubble-headed booby Samurai twits that kept bumping into each other during your Doctor's Warriors of the Deep story? Let's play fair here!

My Hartnell season 2 blu-rays arrived today. The set is brand spanking new, but with fingerprints all over the underside of the discs. This happened for the latest Colin Baker set as well.
Is there no quality check in the factory where the US sets are assembled?

Is there no quality check in the factory where the US sets are assembled? No quality anywhere in the US sets from what I've seen online - they mention a booklet on the back and as ever there is none.

Working my way through Season 9 The improvement of picture quality on Peladon and Sea Devils really is impressive. Regards mark687 They've done a great job haven't they? Have you seen the 'Behind the Sofa' features? I usually really enjoy them, but found Peter D and his team a little too harsh about some stories; a view expressed was how special effects really improved once the Eighties arrived. I'm not sure I'd always agree with that sentiment!
