I'd be importing for a $40 saving and getting them a year earlier. BF was cheaper internationally before they fixed their conversion rates was it not? Australia must have been one of the cheaper worldwide given the AUS$ is worth less than the US or Euro/
Honestly it wasn't despite this being bandied about. In all seriousness . I have joked for years that it is a "mortgage diverter". Many times I would do lumpsum purchases even years ago and it would almost match my 1/2 of my mortgage payments.
I even joked about it with the late great Paul Spragg.
There is a reason why Australia has 1 of the highest rates or pirating online, everything has and always will be ridiculously expen$ive. That's part of the reason why we upgraded houses, my shed out the back is big enough for 4 cars, I divided it in 2, my Batcave is floor to ceiling chocka block full of cds, dvds, video tapes, books, action figures, vinyls etc as I am and always will be a physical product collector.
A BIG chunk of general entertainment in general just is not available in Oz. and our previous Prime Minister introduced a 2nd Tax on overseas purchases because of eBay, Amazon etc getting most of the business in lieu of the shops down the road.
We can definitely put to bed the feeling that Aussies/non UK'ers were getting a real obvious sweet deal/hiding in plain sight discount ride.
Well, not to mitigate old issues but that's just not how economics works. It wasn't a "feeling" - it was counting. You DID get Big Finish cheaper as you were buying a product from the UK at an exchange rate of 1:1. A dollar from Australia is not the same value as one from America, a Euro and a pound. You got them cheaper than the US, Europe and the UK for years while that was (stupidly) Big finish policy. The rest of the post about your domestic economy has nothing to do with affairs and is why it was changed - you're importing, so the only country where price matters is the exporting one, in this case Britain. If I'm buying something from Japan, I pay the Yen price converted to pounds. They don't give me a discount because of the UK economy. You chose to import a British product so should be paying - as it is now - UK prices converted to Aussie dollars. Not the nonsense "just change the £ sign to $" policy that was throwing money away. Why do you think they fixed it? Who was the person at BF paid to determine what customers deserved a break based on their countries' economy? For these sets, if you order from Amazon UK or Rarewaves UK, Zavvi UK, etc - again, they just convert pounds to dollars at current exchange rates because you're buying a UK product. You don't get a kindness discount because you come from a country which charges more for media in general and they feel sorry for you! Imagine the opposite...would you think Big Finish charged more to some countries because things are too cheap in those places? Of course not. I know you said you work in Government...I sincerely hope it's not in the finance ministry!

AFAIK, this was the case for downloads but not the physical product which was a straight currency conversion.

More "general" releases than Blu-ray specific, but The Daleks in Colour and The Celestial Toymaker both have Aussie release date listings for the 7th of August ( The Daleks in Colour: www.sanity.com.au/products/3030562/Doctor-Who---Daleks-In-Colour; The Celestial Toymaker: www.sanity.com.au/products/3030563/Doctor-Who---The-Celestial-Toymaker). Feels like we're finally starting to catch up on some of this stuff! Still no sign of the 60th anniversary specials or The Church on Ruby Road though. What with Disney pulling out of physical media distribution in Aus and them being the international distributor of the show now, it's seeming more and more likely we'll never get those here...

And this will just cement Australia as 1 of the biggest "avast ye matey" countries . Cause And Effect.. You stop the distribution of physical media..

Isn't that the opposite of what Whovitt just said? You ARE getting releases now of all available ranges - animations, season sets and In Colour. Not having the 60th, or Season 1 is nothing to do with Australia - nowhere is getting it except the UK, not one country. As Whovitt says because they have overseas rights. So you - in theory - will get everything except newly made eps and that would be the case regardless how well or poorly physical media sold there. It's Disney protecting their streaming investment as much as they can. But even they have released shows eventually - 2 years for Marvel and Star Wars series seems to be the norm. You are in the same region coding as the UK though so if you want the 60th or Season 1 you can get them.

The biggest music/tv show/movie/electronics retailer is in a mess.. My personal metal cd collection has a Lot more variety then any of the locations- its sad.
More of a "general over view get a feel of the room with physical media" comment.. eBay and Book Depository used to be by #1 source (and I live less than 5 mins away from a massive shopping centre/mall). They just don't get the stock in.
The latest Who books- None of the 3-4 book store franchises here really have them in stock or available to pre-order.
If Australia was say.. 10-15 hours "closer" to USA/UK/Europe we wouldn't have this issue.
It's definitely a cultural thing here the last 5-10 years.

We’re in for a treat with the Escape Room series that’s started with The Celestial Toymaker. Funny, fascinating and frustrating in equal measure. A really great set and choice of puzzles too!

Just stating the obvious but it seems this is going to be a feature included on forthcoming Collection Boxsets (1 for each Doctor). Regards mark687

The clips rattled through quickly to see the teams for every Doctor, but the Davison, Sutton & Fielding one has got to be worth the price of Season 21 alone! Interested to see what order they’ll get released in, as they’re keeping a leaderboard. Might be something they edit in and voice over retrospectively as dictated by the releases, rather than strictly in Doctor order.

The only season they have left is the 21st. Likely just stick them both on there. It wouldn’t be unprecedented; we’ve had a couple of instances of two In Conversations being on the sets, or two new making ofs, CGI effects, etc.

Finally ordered season 9 from Rarewaves, the last box set that was missing from my collection. I'm doing a rewatch of the Third Doctor era at the moment, can't wait for it to arrive.
