While DC Rebirth is great, I can't help but feel there is a sad resigination to it. DC isn't really making in-roads to new readers, outside of Wonder Woman: Year One, Jonathan Kent or Wally #2 becoming Kid Flash, The Ray and Killer Frost in Justice League of America. For all of Marvel's faults, Marvel at least is trying to secure it's legacy in comic books with the exposure of the MCU with new or refurbishining existing characters. Even The New Age of Heroes is DEFIENTLY aimed at a certain comic book audience.

Marvel and DC are such a bizarre set of twisted mirrors.
DC Comics, while not perfect, are broadly pretty solid. They've got some talent behind them, some great artists, and some great storytelling going on. And I think, to the delight of DC fans, they've finally rediscovered the heart of what DC Comics always was, after having lost their way a bit during the New 52.
Their film division, however, oof. I think we all know how much of a disaster that's been.
Marvel seems to be their opposite. For many years, their most famous lines have been utterly inaccessible to newcomers--ask a hundred different X-Men fans how to get started on X-Men comics, you'll get a hundred different answers. Their events have also been a mess; for a number of years now, they've staggered from event to event, trying to force people to buy in to multiple lines to keep track of the event storyline. And when it doesn't work, what do they do? 6-12 months after their present event has petered out, they try to do it all over again, and launch another event doing the exact same thing. And sometimes they even launch the new event before the old one is finished, confusing everybody and spoiling the ending of the already-bailed-on event. What I personally have found most frustrating though, is how they launch new lines at #1 to introduce new readers, and then they cancel it a few months later, or roll it into existing title at #567. Marvel Comics is a mess, and it has been for a long time.
Marvel Studios, however. That's a different story. It's almost embarrassing how much better they are at what they do, than WB/DC is at the same job.
