Alright, so a lot of hubbub about the behaviour and authority of various media fandoms have been cropping up a lot more in discussion over the last year. So, speaking as fans of many things ourselves, what do you define as 'the line' that shouldn't be crossed, and if you have any stories related to fans who did and just left you... baffled.

I think recent Star Wars fandom goings on have left me baffled... apparently some fans were so distraught over The Last Jedi they started a petition to remove it from Star Wars 'canon', to which I can only shake my head and think of William Shatner! It is all just fiction after all, the idea that Film X is any more real/substantial/legitimate than Film Y or Film Z is fairly ludicrous. Why can't people just like what they like and ignore anything that they don't? Life is so much easier that way!

Very charitable. It hasn't stopped the petition getting nearly 60,000 signatures (so far) though... so his plea might have fallen on deaf ears!

following my earlier post - I have tracked down the article where I read this the starter of the petition says "he created his petition because he “was upset” and “on strong pain medication” from a vehicle accident last December" he now says ' “I love all of the support, but we also know that Disney isn’t going to do anything, and with so many people, who have much better causes who are struggling to get attention it is a shame that this is geting this level of media attention,” he said, urging his supporters to look at other, more important causes on Change.org and GoFundMe, “ laces where we can make a difference that matters.” '

Many years ago I was on a forum for 1 of my fave hard rock bands of all time.. There was some awesome argey bargey going back and forth, now this was waay before the current pc shift3 2017 climate so there were some full on things said in heated exchanges which u could definitely say were flat out offensive.. Anyway not going to get into that- bottom line, someone got their lawyers involved, dragged the hosts/owner of the website into it- ISP's were taken under court order with the view of suing for some reason, and basically the site was shut down just like that because of a couple of drop kicks who couldn't work out that every1 is equally entitled to an opinion.. LOLZ.. That had to have been in the late 90's from what I can recall.. Theres always some fans who take it too far because there is something missing in their actual legitimate real life IMHO..

Star Wars fandom has certainly been divided, i loathed the film but if some fans enjoyed it that's great i don't begrudge there enjoyment it just wasn't for me, i don't like when i comment on a movie like Last Jedi or a Marvel/DC whether i like or dislike it & told my opinion is wrong & here's why i should like it, that's what annoys me more than anything.
