Who is your new favourite Star Wars character?
For me, Finn. I just love his gentleness and sweetness and general dorkiness and it's horrifying to see how that was peverted by The First Order and his struggle to find his place in the world.
Second favourite? Rey. I just love her whole arc and I think fans tend to forget just how much of an avatar Luke was for the audience in the original triolgey and Rey's very much cut from the same mould, albeit a distinct character. Rey's a good person who has put her faith in the wrong people, but refuses to allow it to make her bitter. She's strong and determined, but not afraid to be vulnerable or kind and these are important lessons to impart onto kids.
I can't wait for these two kids to end up together, he loves her strength and she loves his gentleness. (I'm gay and I know Oscar Issac playing Poe in love with Finn, but does anyone really not feel anything from Finn's end? It's all about Rey to me.)
Thirdly, Rose. I love how she refuses to be bitter about the hand life's dealt her and that it's an actual struggle for her and she's a fully reliased character, not simply a prop for Finn's journey. I can't wait to see where her journey takes her and REALLY hope she doesn't get killed off in Episode IX.
Fourthly, Commander Holdo. I just low her unselfishness and determination to her duty and her friendship with Leia.

Hard to say. I liked Rey, Finn, and Poe the most, but I can't really pick a favorite between them. What makes these new characters so great to me is just how well they interact in the movies. I think I preferred Poe in The Force Awakens to Poe in The Last Jedi mostly because I really loved the interactions between him and Finn, for instance. I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get so much of that in The Last Jedi, even though I really liked the arc Poe's character went through. Rey is absolutely fantastic. She's a lot like Luke, but in my opinion a lot more adventurous; more energetic. Whenever she's onscreen, I can't help but feel that way too. I also REALLY like the idea of her being born to nobodies. It's far more empowering and interesting to have her strength in the Force come from her own convictions and will than because she was born to important people in the universe or to the fans. Another character I think has been done well is Kylo Ren. It's like someone took the concept of Anakin in Revenge of the Sith, made him a lot more evil, and wrote him a lot more competently. He makes a more interesting villain because of it. He's not just this guy in a black suit and cape who walks around menacingly, he's conflicted and lashing out. He doesn't really quite know what he wants or who he wants to be, but he thinks he does and anytime he feels pulled in a different direction he gets angry at himself. That's the impression I get from him.

That's the impression I get from him. I find Renn to be actually incredibly tragic. As much as I love Han and Leia, Han was always going to struggle as a Father with Leia smoothing over the edges while rebuilding the Republic and dealing with being Anakin's daughter. While this doesn't excuse all of his actions, it does seem if not for Snoke, Ben would just be an ordinary adult (albeit with strong Force powers) who has issues with his parents. He's desperate to connect to something . And while I don't think Renn is beyond redemption, it's something that needs to come from himself. He's someone who has defiantly been moulded and broken, perhaps beyond repair. I know there's a lot of hate for the character (and a lot of unjustified love), but it's far more nuanced then that.
