I notice the full episode (rather than the extract from last year) of Soul Cake in the "Big Finish For Free" section yesterday. Looking forward to giving the full ep a listen. Apologies if this is old news.
Relistened to most of this over the past week. Eve Myles gives a very understated performance as the housekeeper but even in Episode it's clear she's no pushover. It's funny what you forget though when you relisten, like the present day characters and the twist with cook. The family are truly grotesque but I did enjoy the scenes between Catherine and Isaac in his study before what happens happens. I love good intimate dialogue.
I know this might sound strange but sometimes with Big Finish I feel they don't make enough of the potential of the spoken word; a failing of both this play and Transference!
Listened to this today. I've been putting it off because I'm not a huge fan of horror, but I bought the very discounted bundle when Big Finish Originals was first introduced.
The story was properly chilling, but I had a hard time differentiating the women's voices, which made it harder and harder for me to follow the story as it progressed. I may have to listen again some time, but for now it's not one of my favorites of the BF Originals, much as I love Eve Myles.
"You're all irresponsible fools!" Doctor: "But we're very experienced irresponsible fools." _____________________________________
