I read The Beast Of Stalingrad the other night and I was struck by how this series is so alike yet so different to Doctor Who. The book had that very Doctor Who thing of focusing in on people who in the grand scheme of things are unimportant but are integral to the story, but some parts were also so much darker than could ever be done with Doctor Who - what Isabella does towards the end of the book is horrifying in the best way possible. Well, I'm only a couple of books in (just started Angel Of Mercy tonight) but I'm loving this series so far - Erimem, as always, is great and the new characters for the series were instantly likeable, although I don't feel like I know Helena that well yet, but I imagine I will when I get further on in the series.

iainmclaughlin might be interested in this thread. I'm debating whether the thread belongs here or in Worlds of Doctor Who, since Erimem is a character in Doctor Who.

Never seen the books available anywhere in Canada - which means they would likely cost a mint to get.

Never seen the books available anywhere in Canada - which means they would likely cost a mint to get. If you buy from Thebes Publishing from overseas, the postage does of course add to the cost (quite a bit - at least for Australia). Many of the books are also available through book depository, although I'm not sure that that makes them significantly cheaper (I just compared prices for three of the books that I don't have, and for the three combined it ended up being about $5-6 cheaper through book depository). Given the limited price differential, I suspect I'll end up supporting the publisher direct and pay the extra few dollars. (That said, I do find the Thebes website absolutely terrible to navigate - slow, clunky, and difficult to find what you want.)
