I struggled a bit with this one as it felt like I was missing a fair amount of backstory from the prior 2 plays. There were some clever ideas like the space snail & Jonathan Morris's trademark narrative twists. For those who've heard them, do the previous 2 stories in the arc enhance this one?

I had the same problem as you. Bought it a few years ago as a one off, on sale, not realizing it was part 3 of a trilogy. I eventually got the rest of the trilogy and listened to it all in order. It made more sense that way, but I am still not a fan. As much as I like Chase Masterson in other things, I really can't get into Vienna.

Which other releases make this a trilogy - is it 165 The Burning Prince + 166 The Acheron Pulse?

I would say not only are the other two pretty much prequisites for this one, this is the weakest of the three. Not bad and the time weirdness is fun but the other two are far better.

I'd say the best starting points for Vienna are the Worlds of Big Finish set or Series 2, then cycle back around to this one, The Memory Box, & S1.

So I just finished this and frankly, I HATED this. Too many plot threads combined with a pointless Doctor. Just no. Bye. Never again. I'm glad I got it on sale because I'd frankly be mad if I paid full price for it.

I'm glad I got it on sale because I'd frankly be mad if I paid full price for it. It's the third story in a trilogy. Have you listened to the previous two stories? Hard to understand, otherwise (and I made that mistake, having gotten this one on sale a few years ago without realizing it was part of a trilogy).

It is very much the third part of a trilogy.

I have no interest in Vienna because of how much I dislike this audio.

To the point where I was at the "goodbye" scene and I just said "screw it" and went to 1001 Nights (which, for the record, I loved)

It wasn't one of my favorite stories of all time, I have to admit. But it's been a while since I listened, so I don't remember all the details.

I really enjoyed this triolgey - a harsh indifferent universe means that The Doctor can't save everyone and it added nicely to Dark Eyes. It was different, distinct set of stories Kylo is equally tragic as he is horrifying and Kylo codemening Sheena to a living hell - in both body and mind - is one of Who's darkest momments that actually left me physyically shaken.
