Hi folks -
I hope this is OK. I'm new to forums; new to Big Finish (mostly) and new to Dorian Gray... (so please forgive me if I get anything wrong), and I am pleased to meet you all.
As always, I'm way behind when it comes to my reading/listening/watching and only last month did I discover this wonderful series. I have known the story of Dorian Gray for years, but only got around to reading the original novel last year. I've been utterly obsessed with the character, since, and launched myself on a search for adaptations, sequels... whatever I might get my hands on. And, of course, found 'Confessions'.
So far, this is my favourite of the material I've read, watched (I've only seen one B/W film, a very long time ago) or listened to... the Dorian featured in it is certainly my favourite version of the character, too.
I'm hoping to connect with others who appreciate Dorian Gray and the various tales &c. I hope to catch up quickly on how forums work... and join in.
I have even found a question to start with! I have seen the official 'Confessions of Dorian Gray' list at Big Finish, and while it includes the Bernice Summerfield story 'Shades of Gray' and the 'Worlds of Big Finish' cross-overs, I wondered about two other mentions which are part of the 'Dark Shadows' range - 'Darkest Shadows' and 'Skin Walkers'. I looked both of these up, and while Dorian Gray was in the cast listing of 'Darkest Shadows', I can't find any mention of him in 'Skin Walkers'. I'd appreciate knowing whether the omission is an error or not before I buy it... and whether the official list does, in fact, include EVERY 'appearance' of Dorian Gray across the range.
Thank you, in advance.
Aye, ever yours Jaedan.

I don't think Alex appears in The Skin Walkers (although I think the story has a tie-in to the Dorian range). Alex definitely appears in The Darkest Shadow though.

Hi Jaedan! Welcome! Huge Confessions AND Dark Shadows fan here! I’ve even prepared chronologies for both ranges and I can link those to you if you’d like. To answer your question, Dorian himself doesn’t appear in The Skin Walkers, but there is a tie-in because one of Dorian’s major antagonists belongs to a nefarious organization that also is the big baddie in The Skin Walkers.

There! I’ve bumped the Dorian Gray Chronology up for you to find easier. If you hate minor spoilers, don’t look at it!

Thank you for the replies, folks It has made the situation a lot clearer! I looked at your Chronology, Trace; it's excellent - very informative. Thank you for making it so easy to find (and for making it at all). Don't worry about spoilers, I have listened to the series, besides the crossovers that I wasn't sure of. I can buy those with confidence, now. 'Confessions' is such an excellent series - I'm sorry that it's over... and that it took me so long to become aware that I've probably missed many of the most interesting discussions! Of the other adaptations and sequels that I've read, this is definitely the best and most developed.

Also a big fan of Dorian, if you need any suggestions of Big Finish releases, can I recommend Cicero and Hamlet. Both are excellently produced by Scott Handcock, creator of Confessions. I think you would really enjoy them.

Several years ago, a friend of mine loaned me some CDs of the Eighth Doctor when I remarked that it was a shame Paul McCann never really got a good shot at the part; they were Big Finish and although I don't remember much about the stories themselves, now, I do remember enjoying them very much. It was part of why I was quite happy to try 'Confessions'. Big Finish expanded the character wonderfully, IMHO: I really think they got the balance right - Dorian was still selfish and ruthless, but not completely unlikeable. There were one or two small moments of kindness which made you forget what he was... but only for a few moments. Occasionally, I even felt a little sorry for him. A very clever series!

Well, all the Tenth Doctor releases are top notch and the Torchwood is mostly directed by Scott Handcock so you should enjoy them.
