Hello again.
A great loss. He was always one for a good yarn. The audience with programmes I heard on Radio 4 extra a while back were hilarious.
It was only when I watched the Classic Who Twitch marathon that I realised why he had the impact he did on the role. Firstly until Tom Baker he was in the role for 5 series longer than any other Doctor.
Secondly, he was a powerful presence who at the same time had enormous charm. He was angry and serious one minute and in another incredibly silly.
Thirdly, this was the closest that the Doctor ever got to that other Timelord James Bond. His Doctor was a man of action. His Doctor always reminded me of the gentlemanly steel of John Steed.
Finally, he had a consistent production team who knew how to get the best out of their Doctor and his UNIT family. A great era, full of flair, soldiers, scientific bases and charm. Jon Pertwee's Doctor is a unique to him.

Which gives me an excuse to post a charming picture of the great man... with a friend.
Cheers Jon. Gone but most certainly not forgotten.

15 years ago today The Empty Child aired! I can still remember watching this episode as a 12 year old and being utterly terrified by the gas mask transformation scene!😱 This episode scared me so much at the time that I didn’t watch Doctor Who again until my twenties! Of course now Doctor Who is my favorite show and The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances is one of my favorite two parters! Such a brilliant Moffat episode! Everything thing works so perfectly! There is horror, suspense, romance, heartbreak and not to mention Captain Jack😉😀 A true classic!😃

Hello again.
I have always liked the Silurians. I read and reread Malcolm Hulke's superlative adaptation of his own script when I was 7 or 8. The idea of intelligent creatures who had ruled Earth before humans was dynamite. The Silurians themselves with their internal arguments between older peacemaker Okdel and Morka who just wanted the ape scum eliminated were a distinctive species. I loved their third eye and the way that certain humans succumbed to a race memory of being dominated by the Silurans was fascinating.
Chris Chibnall's reintroduction of the Silurians had some of the effective elements of what makes a good Silurian story. The conflict between the warrior caste and the scientists and diplomats were very appropriate. As was the conflict between the Doctor and the humans who distrusted the Silurians. It was great to have them back. while I like the Paternoster Gang, I would really love to see a proper Silurian story again.

The ending of that episode makes me cry! I think it’s one of the saddest companion exits in classic Who!😢
