Sad to hear of Ken Dodds passing, i met him once backstage after one of his marathon stand up show & spoke to him for a few minutes, he was charming, engaging & hilarious.

Sad news. I saw Ken live about a decade ago, didn't really want to go but was persuaded and he was immense. 4 and a half hours, no gaps, no intermission, no repetition....it was remarkable. I'd heard the old stories about shows that would go on past midnight and thought they maybe were a bit of a PR thing....every word was true!
I guess non-UK folk might only know his cameo in Delta And The Bannermen which is a shame - he really was one of the renaissance men - comedy to singles that outsold The Beatles to performing Shakespeare. A true turn.

How ironic the day after the Bruce Forsyth Tribute airs.

A true turn. The show i seen him in went on for 6 hours with just a 20 minute intermission, it finished at 1am & because my dad knew someone who knew his agent we got to meet him backstage & he carried on telling jokes & being entertaining, i felt this aura of happiness & calm, i mentioned Doctor Who to him & he said he did it in jest of the tax man which cracked me up in stitches. Last of the old greats.

He made me laugh when I was a kid and he still made me laugh as an adult. Silly, sometimes naughty, witty, clever and warm. His humour was never nasty and he was the main brunt of all the gags. He was a great comedian and he'll be missed.
