Just finished part 1. A good start.
Is this new end credits music, or have I just forgotten in the interim since series 7 came out?

I enjoyed this one. It was quite different, and a lot more personal a set of stories now that we have met Peter. He's just chilling.

It was my intention to write a few words about the latest series of Survivors at the end, as a whole. But, good grief: second story Robert. Certainly one of the best Survivors stories, and one of my favourite Big Finish stories of all time. What an incredible tale. I'm very happy to see that Jane Slavin is writing again, for the final series.

This is my favourite Survivors set since series 5 (which told the crushing story of Carol). Whilst I admire the producers for opting for a change of pace since then, with more standalone stories in series 6 and 7, it's great to get back to a longer story arc - and with Abbey's relentless journey to find her son, this is the longest story arc of them all. This Lord of the Flies flavoured set is brilliant.
The second story Robert is a standout, but the surrounding tales are sizzling too, elevating Survivors back to being one of BF's greatest ranges. Such a huge shame the full-casts are coming to an end, it seems. And yet there's no sign of a let-up in intensity, what with Robert's story, and the introduction (at last) of Peter. Careful what you wish for, Abbey.
Giving such a prominent, pivotal role to a youngster is not without risks, especially with the kind of dialogue given to Joel James Davison. But he is extraordinary in the role, producing a truly chilling child/demon (his long-awaited meeting with his mother is tremendous)! The seniors are all great too - the gradual hardening of Jenny provides a great contrast to Abbey being noticeably weakened by her ongoing ordeal. And Wendy Craig and Jane Slavin too (a mention also for Vikash Bhai who is both hilarious and poignant as, well, Jesus). Everyone is brilliant in this. I really cannot commend this set enough. I've never been so thrilled to revel in other peoples' misery. Nick Briggs' music has grown from sparingly-used ambient noise in the earlier series to ubiquitous electronic crunching and howling - and I might have been imagining it, but there was a sound effect in Bandit Train that sounded strangely like a dying Movellan!
I suppose there is a chance there could be a surge in sales following the recent Survivors offers on the website, and the exceptional quality of series 8 allowing further full cast boxsets (following the final series 9), but it seems Survivors' future at BF will be in a different format. Whatever happens, I'll be buying it!

As If the tension and bleakness in Survivors wasn’t at a heightened level already they go and ramp up the tension.I have only done the first two stories excellent storytelling and well acted. Now a pause before the final two episodes. These are stories that need a breather between.Bandit Train and Robert are excellent. If the current series are coming to and end in the next box set then they are going out on a high

Ahh here comes Peter and what a little shit he is🤪 He'd have to be, Peter is Abby Grant's son... and she is one of the most annoying characters ever. So it must be in the genes!

I empathize with Abby and her quest, but my one lasting complaint about the series is how she abandons all other responsibilities whenever someone so much as whispers his name. It's a bit repetitive and irritating.
