For those not in the know, the cut scenes of Anthony Ainley's final performance as The Master in the video game Doctor Who: Destiny of The Doctors (in which The Master ensares all seven incarnations of The Doctor by enslaving the psychic planet, before trying to conquer all of time and space. The Doctor manages to draw on the planet's to psyhic energies to create an entity called Graak to rescue him who the player plays as) are available on the DVD of Surrival. The games story was written by Terrance Dicks and featured new recorded voice overs from Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, with voice actors covering First and Second Doctors. Jon Pertwee was due to record lines for the game, but sadly died before recording his lines. Material from his era was used)

Mad as a hatter and still sadly missed. It goes without saying, it's a huge shame he didn't feel he wanted to work with Big Finish. It would have been great to hear him.

He wanted quite a bit more cash than any of the Doctors were being paid to do BF and his rationale was that he was the only Master wheras there were loads of Doctors to choose from so he was worth more than the actors playing The Doctor. And I don't think he was terribly pleasant to Gary Russell when asked from what Gary has said about it. I'm not sure he even considered BF would just go to Geoffrey Beevers instead or if he would have cared.

Again, this is not something any of the Doctors had, so I think he was just trying to get out of it! A shame, nevertheless.

I did like Ainley, when he was actually LET be his own version of the Master rather than told to be Roger Delgado/Weird panto man.
AS for BF? Since Beevors and Ainley are the same Master it didn't matter in the end.

I'd argue Geoffrey has made the BF role his own incarnation completely distinct from Ainley. You put Ainley in Master or You Will Obey Me and they're very different stories.

True, I'm just talking about incarnations.

Now that the recasting taboo has been well and truly broken, I wish BF would get an Ainley soundalike to square off against Five and Six
