I'm interested in this series, don't get me wrong, but I don't think I really have the money to pre-order at the moment...

If these two Boxsets are successful, and I have a funny feeling they will be Maybe BF can then tackle the series 1 "Cliffhanger" Why not invite Patrick Ness to write it? Have not seen the series ,so I have no idea what the "Cliffhanger" is

Trust me, it's great. One of the best moments of the series.
I imagine Big Finish has reached out to Patrick Ness in discussion of future storylines, etc.

Spoilers for the finale
If Big Finish does a second series, April being trapped within the body of The Shadow King could be permeant.

It'd be interesting to do a lower decks kind of episode, following a couple of regular students and they keep encountering flashes of what the main characters are up to. Patrick Ness did this concept in his excellent book The Rest of Us Just Live Here, where the main characters weren't the Chosen Ones, Guardians, Protectors or anything, they were just a group of teenagers dealing with dysfunctional families, graduation, uncertainty about the future, love lives etc. They're still well aware strange things happen and that something is going on, but it doesn't directly involve them. It's basically a coming of age story with a Buffy-esque storyline in the background.

I don't know, the kids kind of already occupy that space already. I'm not agasint it, though. It'd need to have a nasty ending, though.

I don't know, the kids kind of already occupy that space already. I'm not agasint it, though. It'd need to have a nasty ending, though. It'd be beneficial on a character and practical level. It would allow the main characters' lines to be recorded during another recording session and we could see how the other Coal Hill students see the main characters now they're dealing with alien menaces on a regular basis. In Buffy the other students knew things were going on and that Buffy was involved (she received the Class Protector award at her prom). We could get theories on Miss Quill from those who don't know her alien origins. Just a "How do I begin to explain Regina George" style montage for Miss Quill would be worth the price of admission alone (with one the main characters saying she's an alien from another planet).

According to Scott in the podcast, the reason it's not following up from the season 1 cliffhanger because when the decision to set them during season 1 was made, the show hadn't been cancelled yet. Patrick Ness had read over the storylines and scripts.
Please let there be outtakes. Apparently Quill proposes to Nick's Dalek.

It sounds like they’ve had the rights for a while, it’s just taken a while to get everything recorded. Now that it’s offically cancelled on TV, they’ll be able to resolve the cliffhangers. I remember Patrick Ness teased his ideas for a potential S2 on Twitter a while ago and it sounded interesting so hopefully they’ll get to do some of it.
Speaking of Patrick, it’s nice that he’s worked with BF to overlook all the scripts and such, given that they’re his characters.
Also, the podcast confirmed what I think most of us had already guessed: the stories are similar to the Torchwood monthly range where the stories are based around a couple of the main characters, as opposed to the full group.

I think Torchwood style smaller character stories is the best place for Class right now.
Detained was the best episode in my opinion so more of that is cool.
Looking forward to a Big Finish series 2 though.

Looking forward to a Big Finish series 2 though. Both Detained and The Metaphysical Engine were great, and both were more intimate character-focused stories.

I hate Detained my strong advice for anyone watching the TV show and buying the BF series for the 1st time is watch TV Eps 1-5, Listen to the BFs, then brace themselves for it. {Spoiler} It Completely destroyed any Goodwill I had for the young characters except Tanya.
The premiss of the EP is revealing truths so we get:
"We're only a Group through circumstances we're not friends"
"we're only in a relationship because its normal and everything else in our lives is crazy"
"I'm a Gay Alien Prince in love with a Human"
"I'm a Gay (and ultimate example of Politicly Correct European Immigrant) in love with an Alien Prince
"And we all think Tanya is a hanger on"
(Sorry but that's how I felt and it just made me not want anymore of the series)

mark687 Seconded on all counts. I like the concept behind the episode, but the way it played out was so repetitive and grating, and the "truths", as you say, were hardly worth mentioning as they were all pretty obvious anyway.

S1 went up on Netflix UK today if anybody needs to catch up. You may love it, you may hate it, but it's certainly never boring.

Yeah that's how I heard what they were saying too. That's interesting, had the show been given a second season on TV, I think it might've been the first Big Finish range that was being produced concurrently with its TV counterpart? (I'm not counting Doctor Who here because they've never done the current Doctor at the same time he was on TV).

Well, the UNIT New Series audios started when Kate was still a semi-regular on the TV show, the Diary of River Song just as her time on TV was coming to an end, and their short-lived Robin Hood range whilst the last series was on television.
