Today celebrates the vinyl record, and this year the TV soundtracks for Tomb of the Cybermen and City of a Death are available. Big Finish also has a deal on the vinyl releases for The Chimes of Midnight and Spare Parts. www.bigfinish.com/news/v/record-store-day-releases

I'm kind of struggling to understand why anyone would want Vinyl versions of Tomb of the Cybermen or City of Death. Spare Parts and The Chimes of Midnight are both audio dramas, so I understand the appeal, but City of Death or Tomb of the Cybermen were television stories and the soundtrack narrated versions were released in 2006 and 2012, so there's no real nostalgia appeal.

Not even lost episodes - ones that exist in complete TV form! Surprising it's not Evil of the Daleks or Fury From The Deep or something...

Fury would require 3 discs and Evil would require 4, so I'm not too surprised they went for 4-parters on only 2 discs I agree that doing stories that already exist on DVD format doesn't necessarily make a lot of sense, but if you went for 4-part missing episode stories then you wouldn't have very high profile releases ( The Crusade wasn't even deemed worthy of an animated DVD release, let alone vinyl and Galaxy 4, The Myth Makers, The Massacre, The Celestial Toymaker, The Savages, The Smugglers, and The Macra Terror are hardly screaming "Put me on vinyl", which only really leaves you with The Tenth Planet, so that's probably why the went with existing stories )

Highlanders and Myth Makers maybe?? [/graspingatstraws]

I don't think Big Finish ever implied they sold out, though, only that these releases was a Limited Collector's Item.

Staying topical with the main Doctor Who online discussion subject of recent weeks; no new logo on the two BBC RSD 2018 releases either!

Same with the Target Books - people's conceptions of Who and the shakeup. Who as it was and now and setting the distinction with the difference between the shiny new alien but welcoming 'trip into the unknown' logo and a more standardised logo in the use of the Pertwee/McGann logo. I wouldn't read too much into it. These releases are probably going to be the last to go out under the logo.

Isn't it the more simple fact that the new logo hasn't actually come into effect on products yet. DWm use it, but they've always changed instantly. There's a scheduled date when things change over to the new logo, which is why we're still getting product ranges with the old logo that will have the new logo in a month or two. If RSD had been a month or so later, they'd've had the new logo.

Yeah, I'd imagine it was timing more than marketing... those two releases would have been prepared well in advance with Demon. Next year we'll probably see a difference. (Although with vinyl being retro, using the retro logo wouldn't be out of place either.)
