I was watching Under The Lake/Before The Flood today and it struck me that O'Donnell could be a companion that Twelve hasn't met yet. She's VERY farmaliar with him, has several lines of companion banter and falls into the companion dynamic very easily. I could see her keeping herself quiet, reliasing with Clara he hasn't met her yet and not wanting to say anything to keep Bennett on side, adding a sad layer to Twelve's regrets.
Or a Twelve/Bennett reunited story (in the Chronicles format), would be a nice way to add to Twelve's regrets, enforcing Bennett's anger at Twelve's modus operadi.

Sure, we've had obscurer characters make a comeback. I have nothing against any characters making return appearances, just so long as there's some justification for it, like a good story to be told that fits that specific character. Not the biggest fan of bringing characters back for the sake of it unless they were particularly memorable.

Eh, I liked her and thought she was pretty well-defined outside of her role as The Companion Who Wasn't and Morven Christie and Peter Calpadi has some great chemistry together. And now that we've hit retrospect for Twelve's era, a Twelve/Bennett story (who I thought was also nicely handled) would be an nice addition after Hell Bent or The Husbands of River Song.

I'd like to see Perkins and Shona return as well, and perhaps Journey Blue and the crew from Time Heist...

I'd like to see Perkins and Shona return as well, and perhaps Journey Blue and the crew from Time Heist... I don't know about Journey Blue, though. Her story feels kind of done, unless The Doctor meets her later in life and we see how their encounter shaped the rest of her life. I could see her being angry at him, resentful at the way he treated her fellow soldiers and left them to the conflict, people trying to do their best agasint the Daleks. The Time Crew Heist gang, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Perkins is a must and it'd be fun to see Shona return, although it kind of leaves some ambiguity over whether or not she recgonises her faults. Screw it, she's too fun and there's an easy go to story post- Hell Bent about The Doctor learning to accept his faults.

Maybe another heist is in order, and the Doctor assembles some of the old crew and Perkins to replace Clara?

Honestly, I can't even really remember that character very well. But either way I want the show to move forward rather than hark back to the past with old supporting characters coming back!

Had to Google her to have even the faintest recollection of her. So... yeah, why not? But in that case, why? It seems possible, in a anything is possible way, but it doesn't seem probable or particularly worthy.

Isn't she very dead?
I think I've had enough of the "here's a companion from the Doctor's future" trope at this point to last me a lifetime.

We are talking about fictional characters, so yes of course any character mentioned could return. The question then becomes should they return and the answer to that becomes is there a good story waiting to be told that is best told with that character? Honestly from The Last Christmas through most of series 9 we kept being exposed to characters that I would have preferred seeing as traveling companion to 12 than the one he had. As Big Finish starts mining The Twefth Doctor’s era I’m sure we will end up seeing at least a couple of the characters mentioned in this thread.

I think that could be a really interesting dynamic for a series....the Doctor needing to have someone by his (or her) side, but not being ready for another full-time companion. So the Doctor has lots of one off adventures with a “companion” relevant to the story or only keeps a companion for a couple of stories, before wanting to move on because they don’t measure up. After losing a long term partner it would be natural not to want to get involved again. This would also allow a few unsuitable companions to be in the mix. Perhaps this is something Big Finish could do with the Seventh Doctor after Ace leaves him..?

It's a rather tiresome idea & there's nothing in that episode I can recall that made me think O'Donnell was a future companion Doctor Who hadn't met yet. Big Finish will probably use her eventually, they seem to be doing it with every character from Dr Who now!

Let Seven learn the hard way that he manipulates vulnerable people.

Forgot about how overused it's become. My apologies. I'd still like a Bennet reuioun, though!
Lady Christine struck me more in the vein of Big Finish's usual audaciousness. Big Finish KNEW it was going to be divisive and they know we know it's going to be brilliant. People have wanted to know what happened to Jenny since 2008 and given Big Finish's treatment of female characters, those who didn't like her recgonise the potential Big Finish could unlock.
