So, ignoring the individuals (*cough*ninnieswhodon'tunderstandthethingtheyclaimtobeafanof*cough*) who say Doctor Who shouldn't be educational, well, is there a value in being so, why and is Chibbs making the right call by taking 13's adventures in this direction?

If the stories are good, why not?

I think thr balance must be “if it is true, it MUST be true, everything else is fair game”. So, let’s say we tell a story where the Doctor meets Leonardo, we can’t have Leonardo eating meat but we can have him being a notorious prankster (both of which are true of the man) but we can take him to the planet Zog where sentient jellyfish people are at war with talking cabbages. If the Doctor does something science-y to save the day if it involves provable science thst science must be genuinely science, but if it’s technobabble than all good.
