The Third Doctor and co. go mystical in these two season finales about ancient folklore, man's early days and its alien influence. Also, Atlantis crops up in both. But do you bow before Azal, or come before Cronos?

I really enjoy The Dæmons story, but I also enjoy The Time Monster's lore, if that makes any sense.
A lot of the old grand operas like Don Quixote or Faust were told in five acts and Dæmons plays very well within its structure. The schism between science and magic is at the forefront with the Doctor and the White Witch of Devil's End representing each view and it's nice to see both be given a sense of credence. A touch of science and a touch of magic. Monster, on the other hand, is a bit like Silver Nemesis for me. The way it's told could use a little work, but what it's telling is really compelling. Jousting timeships, Chronovores, contemporary (20th-century) time travel experiments gone awry, a benefactor with an ulterior motive, the TARDIS's ability to hear the Doctor's subconscious thoughts, an almost Conan-style society lost in an untold cataclysm... The components themselves are very interesting.

These are both good stories from a good era of Doctor Who but if this was a poll I'd vote for The Daemons. It really is a classic. I think The Daemons just does everything a whole lot better than The Time Monster. Although Ingrid Pitt as the Queen does make it a fairly close run thing at times but Azal wins the day.

Daemons by quite a Margin,
Delgado just owns it from start to finish. Best use of Benton in the Series. The rational Doc undercut brilliantly by a "White Witch", Just 2 things against it. The Doctor's whole "Do as I say not as I do" respect spat to Jo and Mike (its played absolutely straight so comes across mean Hipocracey) and not enough Brig, though he does get "The Line"
Time Monster though again apart from Delgado's scenes with Pitt and the King and The Hermit story its pretty average (not bad just average).

I cant believe you're seriously asking this
Time monster not as bad as often made out but Daemons rightly up there in the premier league of dr who stories.

I was born between The Mutants and The Time Monster. I'm much better than either.

I'm with those above that say The Daemons and it's not even close. It's a classic, the Time Monster is...not. It's got some lovely imaginative stuff but it's a mess.
The Daemons you could easily cast Peter Cushing in and make a classic Amicus or Tigon folk horror.
