Damn! Was really hoping Early Adventures: Series 3 was going to part of this sale (the only thing I need from these two Doctors). There's no guessing how long it'll be before we see it in a sale now...

There's no guessing how long it'll be before we see it in a sale now... I was hoping the same thing. Only ones I need as well. Fortunately I do have a fair number of audios I have yet to listen to... Guess that'll have to tide me over till they do go on sale.

It's finally happened. Four years of buying from Big Finish and finally they have a sale on Doctor Who titles where I already have every item on offer bar one (and it's one I'm simply not interested in buying).
Now what am I am supposed to do? I've been deprived of almost a week of dithering over what to buy, the joy of placing an order at the eleventh hour (quite literally) and the pleasure of wondering what possessed me to add to the listening backlog a minute after the sale ends.
All I can do is either twiddle my thumbs for several days or even worse make a sizeable dent in said backlog. SO NOT FAIR!! ;D

I have worked out it would take £50 inc postage to get the physical releases I want/need, plus £9 for the short trips. I could not buy into the David Bradley re-imagining, from the sample episode i listened to last weekend, despite going in with positivity.
Will have some careful consideration to keep myself to 2 releases (which I passed over last time around). Most interested in the Black Hole/The Forsaken as I deleted them from the basket last time to save some money.
I have the Isos Network, Domain of the Voord and the two Vol 1 sets from a few weeks back.
Any recommendations above the two I have identified as priority listens?

Ep1 of The Forsaken is so simple but so powerful you can visualize them doing it in the 60s
Having a complete outside narrator works really well in the Black Hole
All the STs are fun and or sweet.
And obviously Farewell Great Maccadon is a stone cold classic!

Thanks - forgot to mention that I have the Lost Stories sets (Didn't scroll down that far when listing). Pleased to know which to go for now. P.S. Agreed re ep 1 of the Forsaken - made me want to hear more when listening to the sample episode. The Callan preview had the same effect, too, for those interested.

Other people's mileage may vary, but The Doctor's Tale may well still be my favorite Early Adventure. I also think very highly of The Yes Men and The Isos Network - even in the event that nothing earth-shaking seems to happen in them, I thought they were both very solid stories.

I have said it before, that Peter Purves and Frazer Hines do stellar work in keeping this era alive, whilst Maureen O'brien captures her younger self brilliantly too. Don't get me wrong, I intend to get this whole range sooner than later, but it's nice to have purchases to look forward to, as opposed to 'what's left?'.

A hearty second for The Doctor's Tale. It's probably deliberate, but I couldn't help but think of The Lion in Winter while I was listening to it. There's one scene in particular -- the visitation from a demon -- which sent chills down my spine. I had it pictured in my head in all its monochrome glory and forgot that it was Carole Ann Ford narrating. It was Bill Hartnell all the way in that one glorious moment. The First Doctor Boxset is a must for anyone following those early years -- whether a longtime fan or a curious newcomer. John Dorney can stand very tall and proud among those like Julian Glover's King Richard in his portrayal of Alexander the Great and Moris Farhi delivers a script that just crackles with intrigue and power (I've even got the scriptbook for it). With it, The Fragile Yellow Arc of Fragrance, a one-off insight into the sheer alienness of those early cultures which that period did so well.
