Yet more witch hunting from the past.
The people who dig up and expose these very old twitter n Facebook posts are no better than the purpertrators Misdemeanor they bring up.
Judge me on what I do today and not my past........
I am beginning to hate this world, Disney should remember their founder and corner stone uncle Walt said and did far worse. Shall we now judge him on that and close down the empire.

The organisations they founded carry on.

I’ll bring up this just because it hasn’t been mentioned in this thread - Gunn already apologised way back right before the first GOTG was coming out.
So Disney knew, Marvel knew, everybody knew. To be honest, I’d expect this from Disney after all the Star Wars nonsense, but not Marvel, at all.

OK - that shows a different light on it, I don't believe in punishing someone again and again and again. You do a crime, you pay the penalty, then move on.

And the people who did the digging for this were the same Far Right people who created the PIZZAGATE situation.
Sure Gunn's "jokes" were in extremely bad taste, but Ive heard worse
I reckon Disney/Marvel will still use his completed Script for Vol 3

Sure Gunn's "jokes" were in extremely bad taste, but Ive heard worse So have I. But being fired from a child friendly company for rape and child molestation “jokes” is the least he could expect. Disney had no choice... the backlash for not firing him would’ve been worse.

But why would Marvel hire him in the first place if they knew about these tweets? Yes the tweets are pretty abhorrent and a terrible attempt at humour, but Marvel hires him knowing these existed and then fired him once they were unearthed to make themselves look good? What? Marvel aka Disney must have known about the remarks but chose to look the other way until the point where they didn't. Why must they have known? Do they employ someone to go through the entire timeline of all employees Twitter feeds? Anyway a double standard from Disney who still employee Johnny Depp.

They've employed him for six years knowing this, and he was contrite about his past conduct before the first film even came out. They knew this when they first hired him in 2012. They knew this when they were making the movie from 2012 until it was released in 2014. They knew this when he was out there promoting the film in summer 2014. They knew this when he went back to work on the second film in 2014, and worked on it for three years until its release in 2017. They knew this when he was out there promoting the second film in 2017. Firing him now is absurd, and I hope he sues them for wrongful termination. And the fact that Mike F-ing Cernovich and his idiot brigade of followers are responsible for this smear campaign makes it even more absurd. For the uninitiated, Cernovich is an alt-right (read: misogynist white supremacist) troll, notable for propagating the Pizzagate lie and such charming comments as this and this. CAUTION: DISGUSTING content (words only, but still repellent). I wonder what Sean Gunn is going to do? Kraglin's role has become more important, and he's been the stand-in for both Rocket and Groot during filming--is he going to stick around on the film his brother was unjustly fired from? This has also pissed off both Dave Bautista (Drax in the Guardians films) and Patton Oswalt (another MCU alum). No, the 'jokes' were not funny. Not at all. But this is just stupid.

Moving forward... Get Taika Waititi to direct Guardians 3. Ragnarok was basically a Guardians movie anyway, so he'd probably do a great job.

You know what? I'm sorry that he was fired. But his tweets are indefensible. Trying to be provocative by tweeting "jokes" about pedophilia and rape has never been appropriate or funny, whatever his excuse for doing it or however long ago it was.

The thing is why did they hire him in the first place then? His last “joke” (very tasteless) tweet was only a few months before disney hired him. They would have know of his online persona and work and if they wearnt willing to stand by him and say that was james gun then not now as his attitude and way of posting has changed drastically as noted by his brother im the article, well they shouldnt have hired him. It seems odd and without getting too tin foil helmet-y it seems like only half a story here. I really dont see why disney would fire him now after 6 years of working unless they were really that ignorant that they didnt know. But cmon a company like disney with its image wouldn't hire somebody without checking. It just seems odd to me.

It does seem odd, and I don't know the answer to that question.

And the tweets were not something he had run away from. He has spoken of them in the past and apologized for them. I'm personally conflicted on this. As I noted above, I've followed Gunn via social media for several years now and as much as I can tell, he has had a change in perspective. I believe people should be allowed to make mistakes as long as they grow from those mistakes. And I believe people should be judged for who they are, not for who they were. The flip side is Disney has a right to protect their brand and their property. That said, I continue to feel that Disney bowed to pressure over the right-wing outrage from Rosanne Barr's implosion & termination a little too quickly. And I would continue to point to the way Gunn & Barr have handled themselves after their respective dismissals. If only someone could fire the American President over all his awful, crude & offensive remarks before 2020.

I think these are something worth considering James Gunn is fired from Disney for inappropriate jokes he made 10 years ago because they do not keep in line with their family friendly image and yet they are notorious for portraying racism and white supremacy, two things that are much worse. I'm more and more thinking that this was the wrong decision.
