I know we joke about it a lot but I do wonder why it is that James Goss has written almost every Torchwood monthly release this year?

I know we joke about it a lot but I do wonder why it is that James Goss has written almost every Torchwood monthly release this year? All but two monthlies (with one co-written) and October's Torchwood Soho release. Maybe he's bowing out as producer soon and wanted to get out everything he wanted to do before he steps down?

That would certainly make a great deal of sense.

Funny enough i saw a post on reddit that brought up the question of why there weren't other writers for the Monthly Torch wood Releases and one of the answers was interesting....

Not if there’s any truth to it but it’s certainly a possibility.

Regards mark687 I think this is the comment they’re referring to, by TomeDeaf95- “That's 8 out of 12 monthlies this year by him, isn't it? And he had a hand in the ninth - the Yvonne Hartman one - as one of the three co-writers, and there's a December slot left unannounced that could be him as well! Bit of a shame when this used to be where we got the most diverse range of voices (and previously Goss had done no more than 3 in any one year), and now it's practically just one bloke churning them all out. But then I've heard... things about what Goss and Handcock are like to work with, and so I'm not entirely surprised most of these writers have gone on to do other things in other parts of the company, or just not come back at all.” The user doesn’t really elaborate on what they’ve heard exactly, so take it as you will.

To quote the wit and wisdom of a certain Derek Trotter from Nelson Mandela House, Peckham : " Can you smell that? What is it...Sheep? It's Cows....no, no...I know what it is. It's Bull**** "

I can guarantee that Scott and James are two incredibly lovely people and there is not a lack of other writers. Torchwood as a range has been incredibly hard hit over the last year due to COVID and other reasons not public. Goss and Handcock have had to adjust and push back so many scripts etc.

And as to your first point, yep, I haven't heard a single bad word said about either Goss or Handcock.

Goss begrudgingly takes on as many writing credits as needed to meet the preorders. Its a small miracle each month is still pf such high quality.

Lee Binding I know is stepping down from Torchwood covers as he feels he has done a good sized and wants to pass the torch as it were. And there are so many things I want to ask them, especially things about The Red List, Curios, Empire of Shadows, The Great Sontaran War, Ashenden etc!

Can it be? A Torchwood Monthly Range story not penned by James Goss? Say it ain’t so!
In all seriousness, the cover and story details look and sound brilliant.

After last December's Torchwood Christmas ghost story, I'm really looking forward to this one. And new writers as well! Having lookup up their credentials, I'm sure this will be a great release.
