I'm in a bit of a Bond mood at the moment, and about to splash 60 quid on a Blu-ray box set for the lot. In light of this sudden obsession of mine, what are your favourite Bond films? You can choose up to three.
I've even been a bit cheeky and added the non-Eon films to the poll, that's dedication to the cause.

Is it bad that I’ve never actually seen a Bond film?

Very. Go and stand in the corner. When can I leave the corner? When you have watched either Goldfinger, OHMSS or The Spy Who Loved Me. Fair representation of the first three Bonds.

Good choices. Saw The Spy Who Loved Me at the cinema in 1977 (brill, never as good on telly), then had a flush run of seeing them on the big screen from A View to a Kill, both of Timothy Dalton's and Goldeneye, but this run got nixed twice when i belatedly went to Uni as no one else wanted to watch the next 2 Brosnan's, so was outvoted. Tastes had moved on and they were seen as being too predictable by then, so it's understandable that they are not what they were culturally, to millennials. And who thought David Niven was worth a listing over Shirley Bassey's finest 3 minutes (Diamonds)?

And who thought David Niven was worth a listing over Shirley Bassey's finest 3 minutes (Diamonds)? I didn’t notice that! That being said, apart from the cremation scene (that is in dimonds are forever yeah?) i find Connery so uninspired in that film, really cashed in performance and second worse only to Never say never again. Really drags his bond down on my rating list despite his first 3 films being, on a whole, flawless and amazing start to the series

The problems Diamonds has, is that OHMSS was the most expensive Bond film ever at that point, and it lost a lot of money. George Lazenby then walked away from the role after falling out with the producers, so Connery was drafted in to do a favour/save the films, hence the feeling that he going through the motions.
The budget was severely cut back to make up for the losses of OHMSS, which has the effect that it feels less like a Bond film than it's predecessors. Roger Moore's first two films suffered similar budget cuts to recoup the losses of OHMSS, with The Spy Who Loved Me finally returning to big set pieces.
I think right through the run, the scale of ambition and confidence is often only as good as the box office receipts of the direct previous film.

The World Is Not Enough is actually the best Bond film and I’m quite rightfully offended that nobody else here can see this to be true.
(I’m quite glad somebody likes Tomorrow Never Dies and Licence To Kill though, they are both brill and underappreciated.)

It's a toss-up for me. On Her Majesty's Secret Service remains one of the prettiest films I've ever seen, the cinematography is just inspired. Everything a Bond film should be -- sleek, stylish with colours that complement every shot recorded to film. The true purpose of the Bleuchamp Institute's allergy research stands up very well as a global threat, perhaps even more potent in the twenty-first century. I wish we could've had more like it going into the early seventies (before TSWLM). It's got a real sense of substance to it. I could very easily say the same things about From Russia with Love. SPECTRE make a remarkable splash for what's only their first full appearance. Between the faceless No. 1, Rosa Klebb and Kronsteen, a hundred acronymic criminal syndicates have been inspired the world over. Bond's friendship with Kerim feels very genuine (alas, given what transpires) and Istanbul just eeks atmosphere from its walls. Goldfinger is stunning -- the dawn run on Fort Knox with the gas one of my favourite sequences in film -- but I have to give it over to FRWL for the twists and turns of the honeypot ploy with the Lektor.

My top three:
1. From Russia, With Love The Soviets/SMERSH of the novel are tactfully recast as mere dupes of SPECTRE but it's still a Cold War classic and the Istanbul sequences (pre-mass tourism) are especially superb. And Sean Connery is James Bond.
2. OHMSS Great plot, great location and action sequences and that ending. And a much better Bond than popular opinion used to think.
3. Goldfinger The last Bond film made while Ian Fleming was alive, and it shows. A classic and an excellent adaptation of the (excellent) novel.
And my bonus secret Bond film in the hidden compartment:
For the sheer popcorn-munching, parachute-skiing, Egypt/Corsica/Alps/scenery-gazing, Jaws-fighting, sub-aqua-Lotus-driving, tanker-set-gawping, Anya-Amasova-(ahem)romancing, keeping-the-British-end-up fun of it all, I love The Spy Who Loved Me. A wet day on holiday in 1977 was filled with sunlight by a visit to the cinema to see this. (I still want that car! )

its limited to 3 options but everyone has its charm
A View to a kill was my first Cinema going experience and for every film from Die Another Day onward I've been lucky enough to attend Crew Screening as the father of an old neighbour had run Set transport, unfortunately he retired just after Spectre.
