Week 8, with Ace and Hex caught up in a World War III that should never had happened. Can they Protect and Survive? Then it's two time periods, two sets of companions and two games coming to a head before the final round Black and White, with the chessmaster absent from proceedings. It's not all Black and White. But what of the Doctor you ask? He's in Florence where there's The Doomsday Quatrain awaiting him. Next week, the game concludes with dramatic effect and a new journey begins.

Due to space flu, no, regular flu (first time I've had to call in a sick day at work for a very long time, my not needing to use them was brought up at my performance review), the week with Gods and Monsters and Afterlife will be tomorrow. Don't worry, I don't need a hospital, poncy space or St Garts.

Enemy Of The Daleks was i think the first time Hex sensed travelling with the Doctor had tragic consequences, it dawns on Hex that death & destruction go hand in hand travelling with the Doctor.

Week 10 incurs the wrath of the Revenge of the Swarm and we put on the Mask of Tragedy. Next week: We conclude this listen through with the final stand of Hector Thomas before revisiting the golden years in a double bill.

Yes there’s plenty of material still to be mined Pre Gods and Monsters.Hex is a great character and tames the worst parts of Ace.Normally it is the woman who tames the worst parts of men.(in my opinion of course lol🤔

Got to agree with that Night thoughts was the first I had ever heard of him and then got more he was an interesting character and grew on me as i got more of his audios and his self sacrifice in Gods was totally in keeping and he grounded Ace (and Sophie) the two of them in Magic Mousetrap was a highlight in my listening experience

I would agree but to be fair to audity, afterlife says what happens in Gods and monsters in its blurb, trailer AND its cover is very suggestive too anyway and ik not everybody looks at future releases and reads blurbs but it’s quite easy to be spoiled by what happens due to hindsight and what releases have came out after (at least thats how i was spoiled) still probs should still be edited

I'd recommend delaying any reading of past issues of Vortex, specifically the December 2013 issue.

Besides which, I don't have heaps of time to read the current Vortex unfortunately, let alone one from nearly 5 years ago.

Besides which, I don't have heaps of time to read the current Vortex unfortunately, let alone one from nearly 5 years ago. On the bright side, I'm halfway through the Hex listen-through (as far as 'Lurkers') and although I knew all the major reveals / twists / villains in advance, this (and the Evelyn listen-through before it) has still been a terrific BF experience. The two trilogies from 'The Magic Mousetrap' have been outstanding.
So however much you do or don't know in advance, it's going to be one hexk of a ride!
Personally I'm very pleased to have been hearing most of these (and the Evelyn stories) for the first time as one long binge-listen and blow the order of the MR and any intervening stories! It's been glorious and I'm about to take a black TARDIS detour with solo Seven for 'Robophobia' etc. before picking up with Hex and Ace again.
