I have been a MR subscriber for years and have a lot of extended extras in my download account but have never listened to them. Partly this is because they are not available on the app, but mainly I have simply not bothered. IMHO the standard extras are all very samey and I only listen because I am usually driving and it is easier to let it carry playing on once the story finishes.
I am not talking about the subscriber only Sort Trips or occasional other goodies, purely about the interviews
Keeping in mind that I do listen to the normal extras, am I missing much on the extended extras? |

If you regularly listen the cut-down stuff then their not essential but I find them more engaging than not Peter Davison ones practically ones that reference his Son in Law are fun.

I usually listen to the extended extras and skip the regular ones. Sometimes there are interesting bits in there.

I'd listen to more extended extras if I could access them via the listening app but to your question, sometimes yes but mostly eh.

A lot of them tend to be same old same old. I still listen. Sometimes you get a good story from the actors/producers. Occasionally there's been some interesting production bits about sound design and so forth. Wish they'd put in more of that.

I listen to them whenever I can and usually enjoy them a lot. Sometimes, the interviews will inspire me to see things in the story I hadn't previously noticed. And the extras are often a reminder of how much work goes into these audios.

They vary a lot but sometimes they're real gems. 'A Death in the Family' springs to mind from my recent listening. And as said above, any with Janet Fielding, preferably being interviewed together with Peter Davison. Now that's added value! 
I also like the times where they talk more to the writers, sound designers, directors etc. especially now we don't get behind-the-scenes notes in the MR "booklets".

Yeah, they're the ones I'd be more interested in; hearing what goes on in the creative process behind the stories. Hearing actors go on about lunches and how they loved Doctor Who as a child and how weird it is hearing Nick direct in a Dalek voice, etc. get a bit tiresome after a while. |

Tbh I haven't bothered for several years. Perhaps I'm missing out, but I don't feel like I'm missing much unless they're saving the good stuff for the extended extras

I consider the Extended Extras more complete than what gets put on CD because they go further in depth and allow room for more interviews. Tend to delete the 'standard-length' extras, on my iTunes library, once they make each Extended file available in our accounts.

I always like to hear the extended extras. There are usually some nice features that you might not otherwise expect such as sound designer comments.

After hearing the 25-30 minutes that often comprise the Extended Extra downloads, I find the ‘normal’ extras (marvellous as they usually are) feel somewhat rushed by comparison. I’ve found I hold off listening to the Interview tracks completely until the Extended Extras become available. Sometimes it can be quite a while, but to me that just builds the anticipation. Also, as someone has gone to the effort of compiling them, I like to make sure they get consumed. I wouldn’t want the Extended Extras to end due to a lack of interest. I usually wait to download and listen to a main range release till after the extended extras are available. I like to have the story, the script, and the extended extras all at once. |

Yeah, me too. Now I have done so before, but seldom. I convert all the main range releases to "wave" files and then go in and remove the "coming soon" trailer and the extras, and when the full extras are available, I stick them in, convert it back to my preferred rather low bitrate MP3 and put it in my archives. Now, usually by this time I would have listened to the original title, so I end up having to port just the extended extra to my MP3 player.

I admire your willpower and patience! No willpower needed. I have a huge backlog of listening, due to having bought stuff on sale that I knew I would want eventually and haven't listened to yet. I'm sure I have at least a year's worth of as yet unlistened to releases. |
