Is anyone else familiar with the DWADs? I used to listen to them all the time when I was a penniless high-school student who couldn't afford the 'proper' Big Finish stories, and absolutely loved their expanded universe feel (I mean, they have literally six entirely new incarnations of the Doctor designed to be slotted in at an unspecified future point...) It's been a while since I've listened to them, and the audio quality isn't particularly great, but they're a real trip down memory lane.

I think I've heard of these guys, they started off doing audio dramas in the early 80s and have been running for a couple decades since. They did stories like Tomb of the Daleks and Dreamscape, right?

Yup, that's them! They honestly have a lot of interesting ideas (and James Durkin is one of the best Who writers I've heard from across all mediums), especially with their 30th anniversary special that, quite honestly, is a fantastic evaluation of the Valeyard (in a non-obvious, nicely subtle way)

they should all be available from dwad.net! There's also a whole bunch of reference material to get you caught up on the history of the dramas, since they've been running since 1982!

I seem to remember that The Chimera's Game, The Sontaran Trap, Alive, and The Time Traveler are all particularly good and favourites of mine. Tastes may vary though, and a lot of the earlier ones (like Chimera's) don't have the most stellar production values/acting compared to later ones.

I've had a look at the site but can't seem to find the download button on the individual doctor's page...I've clicked on the episodes 1 2 3 etc but nothing happens. thanks for the story tips btw

I think they have episodes in both WMV and MP3 format, I've always right-clicked on the individual links and saved them (otherwise my browser wants to open them up and play them directly xD)

They are rather endearing, aren't they? James K. Flynn is honestly one of my favourite incarnations of the Doctor I've ever encountered, his performance is always superb!

Just started 169: Hortima Prime. For those interested you can add them all to your Podcast player (I use Podkicker), just search for 'The doctor who audio dramas' and then click subscribe.
