OMG!! So I am on the bus going home from work.. I see the BF bookeyface post from 30 mins earlier saying the vinyl is out.I msg my English mate who lives here in Adelaide Australia, he then immediately calls his close English mate who literally lives across the road from an ASDA.. And promptly picks up 3 vinyls for me..! SQUEE !!!!!!!!!! In and out back home in 10 mins HAHA So 2 copies for me and 1 for my brother. Now the race is on to see which package arrives in Austalia first. the vinyl OR the 10th Ltd Ed box set ! I can't tell you how jealous I am Here's hoping they can eventually sort out distributors in countries other than the UK.

Bit of a postcode lottery looking at the list. Glad I'm not a vinyl collector

Went to Asda on way to work this morning but no copies on show. I asked an assistant who said he hadn't checked if today's delivery was in yet. He wouldn't/couldn't check right at that moment but he did offer to keep one for me, if they had any.
So I had a day of wondering and waiting. Back to Asda after work and they had one set aside for me.
Turns out I needn't have fretted as they also had one on the shelf. Maybe I'm the only collector round these parts. Bodes well for any future exclusive releases.

I can't help but wonder if there should be a one copy per customer rule on these things.

I can't help but wonder if there should be a one copy per customer rule on these things. Or increase it from 1,000 to..more? (in all seriousness they have to know how rabid BF collectors are.)

That wouldn't stop eBay scalping though.

I think 1,000 units is about right. They’re creating demand purely because they’re so limited. Up the amount of units and you begin to lose that demand.

As we all know they are looking at international distribution. They're obviously not looking for international distribution for limited edition vinyl exclusive to UK chains though. One copy per shopper. No one needs more than one for their own use and no one needs to be fleecing others on eBay.

As we all know they are looking at international distribution. Then of course they will adjust the units accordingly. However, they are currently exclusive to UK retailers in-store (HMV excepted, but they’re now no longer online, and that was a limited pre-order), thus my comment about 1,000 units being about right. It’ll be interesting to see how the international distribution is handled. As far as I’m aware, there’s nothing stopping an overseas retailer from putting the money forward for their own exclusive. I somehow can’t see Asda striking a deal with Big Finish and allowing their product be sold elsewhere, even on the Big Finish site, unless they decided to stock another batch in Walmart in the US.

They're obviously not looking for international distribution for limited edition vinyl exclusive to UK chains though. Exactly. If HMV, Sainsburys and Asda are all happy with the exclusives and decide to continue, then they’ll remain UK exclusive. The only way I can see around it would be for Big Finish themselves to try marketing one, an overseas company trying their luck (which would presumably remain exclusive to the respective country), or an online retailer having a punt. And even then it would be their decision on which countries to market to.

We don't have an HMV, Sainsburys or Asda in Australia.. On the flip side- can you imagine if BF did a deal with an Australian only distributor with everything you 2 have just stated.. There would definitely be some concern, for lack of a better word with all non Aussie countries- it's only natural.
I msgd Mr Briggs earlier this year on The Book Of Faces and he directly replied saying they are looking at all facets of international distribution because they are well aware..
Not having a go at anyone btw- it makes for very interesting conversation. Someone co-incidentally on FaceyBook started a post about the "Chimes" and "Spare" vinyl still not being sold out, and comparing the price difference direct from BF vs. the stores you have there..

It's fascinating because what exactly meets the bar of international distribution? The ability to ship within Europe? Across to the Americas? What about the Pacific? Asia? Africa? Does international genuinely mean worldwide? I suspect it's not a question of willingness, but infrastructure (there's only so much BF to go around), combined with a sense of fair play. Give an exclusive deal solely to Australia -- no one else -- and there would naturally be anxious feeling from those in the United Kingdom, Europe or the Americas. "Why aren't we getting this? We're international too," or "We live where they're being produced." It's just stuff as bobod said, customers can be satisfied with standard releases. Even if the Australians get something special, no one is losing out on content, just collectables. But, it would rankle that sense of fair play. Because no matter the distribution problems regarding their limited infrastructure, the decision to those with no access to exclusives sounds an awful lot like: "Get stuffed." So, you do the smart move and keep it in the United Kingdom. Why the exclusives? Well, the production company live there. If there are international deals to be made, they'll likely be made in unison across multiple countries. No one misses out. The logic is fascinating.

But it's 2019 and if something is going to be released on vinyl (I am still a collector of vinyl have done so since the 80's) I fully expect to be able to be given the opportunity to purchase it . Likewise for any other country etc etc . Fascinating conversation in all seriousness.
