Greg Austin - Charlie from Class on tonight's ep. Comments a rather predictable deluge of "Well Class was worse", "No, Class never got a chance..." to and fro. Had one of the Dullest lead males ever...

Well, he didn't write it! And Ram is clearly the lead thematically and in screentime. Though it's obviously Greg's opinion...if I were a young jobbing actor I'd be keeping away from criticising the makers of the flagship show of the biggest drama producer in the country. Does seem like a rather self defeating move with no upside. Of course...the predictable "Well Class was worse" type response I mentioned above only took one response to my post to happen here too! You've set the QI klaxon off Mark, sorry!

Since you mention, I really liked when they form a sort of human shape during the 'timeless child' bit. It had a ancient, gothic feel to it, like a mix of ghost, mummy and oracle. Minor detail but I did like that.
Gothic is a good word. The episode had the feeling of a melding of the early 1st & 4th Doctor eras to me. Also, Ian Gelder's the voice - done several shows for BF.

Oh and I liked the way Chibnall continued to incorporate Ryan's dyspraxia rather organically into the proceedings.

Well I really enjoyed it, it didn't blow me away like last week, but I was gripped beginning to end, I found the end scene of The Doctor entering the Tardis to be quite emotional.
There were a couple of things that came up that made me think we could be seeing the unfolding of an arc, but if we are, it's fairly gentle and the stories (so far) have stood in their own right, so I'm happy.

It's been 10-99 so far (one for fellow Terrahawks fans there...) pretty much non-stop so I can get why this hasn't happened but a fifth of the way through the series (!) and there's not been a scene or even conversation between Graham and Yas. She's certainly the companion least developed so far. I really hope she gets more to do in the next few eps and Mandip and Bradley get to do something together.
Right now it kinda feels like we coulda met her in Ep 3 or 4 and not lost anything.

Enjoying the series, not blown away yet... The highlight tonight was 13's reunion with and connection to the TARDIS I also like how Jodie Whittaker doesn't pull focus from the other characters. She's the Doctor, the Doctor's the one working hardest and being cleverest to find solutions to the problems at hand, but she's not necessarily the centre of attention at every moment the way the last four all were (or, because I feel gender could be a factor in my perceptions, I would also contrast Whittaker's ability to share focus against Scarlet Johansson or Angelina Jolie). 13'll fade into the background while the tension escalates and then step forwards to cut the problem to size. I'm pleasantly surprised by how refreshing I find it, a more humble hero!

I honestly felt Jodie was weak in this I didn’t feel any Doctorish vibe except as i said the dont touch the Tardis control bit.I did not enjoy the story and everything seemed in need of a good edit. The Ryan cannot get up the ladder bit dragged on especially with the threat of a robot horde about to come behind them. The Tardis console control room was Dull and unimpressive (shades of fortress of solitude)I mean why crystal? As for the poor guy from Class(a show i have neither seen or heard) should have been like Davison will he delete?

I'll give this 8.5 to go with what eventually came out a 9 for last week. I could wish they'd done more with this or that, but it's another episode where it didn't really seem like there were a lot of moments being squandered. I liked that there was some sense of continuity from last week with Ryan and Graham still sorting out losing Grace, and the Stenza getting mentioned. I could have about teared up when the TARDIS opened without the key and the first shots inside were stunning, this season really looks nice so far. (I wasn't quite blown away with the TARDIS interior but maybe someone will turn the lights on next week and I will be, I like it but just it seemed rather dark the whole time). Still liking this at least as much as I liked my favorite season with Twelve.

Well that was fun. Maybe a bit too much sonic & we need to give Yas something to do & more character development. As others have said it looked gorgeous. So impressed with the cinematic style. The TARDIS looks good, but someone needs to turn the lights on & no uppy downy bit!
As for Chibbers saying no arc. He lied!
& its strange reading some reviews that criticize it for being to simple plotwise when before they were criticizing it for being too complicated!!!
My rating, 3/5

The good. Jodie Whitaker was awesome as the Doctor & i like that she gets straight into the action & proves her excellent performance in the first episode wasn't a fluke.
The story was easy to follow & the exploration & love for the adventure has returned to the show which i felt been missing.
The tone, it feels more grown up, mature somehow.
The direction & music score very good.
There's a arc.
The not so good. Tardis interior "i didn't like it" looks a bit DIY SOS.
Title sequence, a bit trippy & doesn't feature the Doctors face.
Art Malik, wasted in a small cameo.
Slight overuse of the Sonic Screwdriver.
Yas was underdeveloped again, maybe four is a crowd?
Overall I'd rate this 3/5, the show feels rejuvenated & fresh just needs to iron the the creases.

7.1 million overnights, which is a brilliant result. In fact it beats the final figure for all but one episode of the last series.
Hillarious to watch the excuses from the usual suspects on some other forums. "It had no competition" being the latest.

I reckon we’re in for a surprise encounter with a surviving member of the Dcotor’s family. Family seems to be the theme, she’s said two episodes in a row now her family is all dead AND YET the magic wrap things refered to “the Timeless Child” which clearly meant something vaguely to the Doctor But was important enough for the wrap to use it as a taunt.
Susan was once Unearthly, maybe she became timeless?

And to put the numbers in a historical context, the overnight ep.1-2 drop (1.1m) is smaller than: Eccelston overall (10.81-7.97) Tennant S2 overall (8.71-7.23) Smith S5 overall (10.09-8.42) Smith S6 overall (8.86-7.30) Capaldi S8 overall (9.17-7.29)
Add in the probable 1.5-2m from the seven days, and I think we're looking very healthy.

It kind of proves that RTD had it right all along; straight-forward stories with the emphasis on the characters is the recipe to success.
Heck, even the new TARDIS feels more of a follow-on from the Eccles/Tennant one.

Excellent result, by the way.
