Did you read Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys SuperMystery #25 Secrets of the Nile? Where Nancy & Frank kiss . We don’t have that book. It’s selling for a lot. We have a lot of the other books in both series but haven’t read it all. What made my day is the radioactive capsule has been found. Was worried about the people using that route, & you guys in Australia & the Sirens of Audio guys, & Janet, even though you all are far away from where it was lost. I was on the Western Australian emergency services site the other day looking at a bushfire alert (because there was one near a friend’s house) and I saw the “hazmat alert” for the capsule: it covered the entire route that the truck followed, which was about 1400 kms. Needless to say, our local social media has been quite active, especially since the mining company involved is famous for blowing up some historical aboriginal sites (rock carvings that date back tens of thousands of years) for “exploratory research” reasons. Oh yes.. I remember that ^ shame on them (exploratory research!)..

Trump's anti-trans rant. I watched it last night and it was insanely terrifying. I can't see him getting the nomination, but I thought that last time. Harper is terrified. I think it's time to move to London.

Trump's anti-trans rant. I watched it last night and it was insanely terrifying. I can't see him getting the nomination, but I thought that last time. Harper is terrified. I think it's time to move to London. I wish there were words I could say that would adequately ease the anxiety you must be feeling, but as parent myself I know that is a difficult ask. All I can offer is a stray thought or two rattling through my head. You and I (and one or two others on the forum..) are of an age where memories of the fear and the prejudice and the sheer bloody ignorance that surrounded the queer community during the HIV/AIDS epidemic linger. Things are different now, and it was the younger generation..our generation..that led the way toward acceptance. History is repeating itself - It is our generation that is now fearful and prejudiced and ignorant and I believe it'll be Harper's generation that will eventually lead the way towards acceptance. I'm also a firm believer in karma, and I believe that those who are pedalling hate towards the trans community now will eventually have to answer for such actions (you might want to look up the recent comments by John Luttig in the Washington Post). Until that day comes hold on tightly to and draw strength from both the network of family and friends you have around that support Harper, and from Internet strangers who are simply content to see someone live their life by their own choices without having to live in fear of the hate filled bile of Trump and his ilk. Things will change. One last thing. Door is always open.

As a personal note, 1 of my Uncles had a mate back in the early 80's who transitioned, took on the name of my sister too. 1 of 3 people I have personally known to do this. Good on them.

I think it's time to move to London. I am so sorry for all the bullsh*t you have to endure. But I agree with the Brig. Things will change. And the people causing all these hardships now will be judged by history. But that is, however, no excuse for what is happening now.

This week at work was atrocious. My colleagues and I have some real trouble with some people also working for our company (I will NOT call them colleagues) who have caused a lot of stress, drama and additional work and trouble with the big boss. This behaviour is just terrible and we have all been suffering and I have been so stressed these past weeks, that I did not sleep well and my mood was pretty bad. In addition to that, yes, my landlords are still drilling and hammering, and I am NOT an early riser, so being denied sleep when I really need it additionally gnaws my nerves. I am soooo glad I am able to do a trip to the UK next week- finally a week away from the madhouse. I am looking forward to seeing the Doctor Who exhibition, having some nice pub meals and just chilling. I also seem to be very lucky (or gifted with premonition?) for having picked the one week in February where there are no train strikes scheduled. Yay me. So I will actually be able to travel by train.
Anyways- I am not sure how often I feel motivated to come onto the forum while I am away- I just want to send a warm virtual hug to everyone who needs it. Just try to treat your fellow humans in a decent way. I know it is hard to behave decent when everyone else treats you badly and you are in a bad mood because of that. No use to contribute to the general bad mood. That's all for today.

I have been backed up at work since Thursday of last week 26th January when we had our National Public Holiday.. ARGH

Kinda unreal, awful news here. Not for me personally but someone I know slightly.
About a year back I met another Youtuber, VoteSaxon07 after he commented on a vid of mine. He reviews figures and episodes. We spoke of doing a collab sometime. Last time we talked was maybe November.
Cut to today. VoteSaxon07, real name Stephen McCullagh, has been charged with the murder of his pregnant wife. It's all over UK and Irish news. He killed her a week before Christmas and tried to use a Youtube livestream that was actually pre-taped as an alibi. What's somehow even sicker? He kept making vids in his happy go lucky Irish accent until as recently as last week, looking at the new 13th-14h Doctor regen figures boxset. He's just carried on as normal...after murdering his pregnant wife.
Shock doesn't even cover it. He was a cheeky chappy, likable dude. WAS. Unreal.

I must admit I was never a frequent viewer of his but I do recall tuning in from time to time back in the day. That pre recorded stream says it all really. What a calculated approach, devoid of any trace of remorse or compassion. As someone who often bemoans the lack of true justice in the world, I really hope they throw the book at him and he gets sent down. My thoughts are with the victims family. Hope she and her unborn child rests in peace.

On Wednesday I was due to usher for Garth Marenghi at the theatre I volunteer at, but it got delayed until the end of next month because of illness. The day he's been moved to? Is the one evening during the week I work and, short of taking it off as holiday or having it off unpaid, I'm not going to be able to go...
This is definitely 'bumming me out' more than it probably should.

What the heck was this mining company with a radioactive capsule anyways? And why did they chuck this tiny little thing off a truck? Does this mean there was a WHOLE truckload of these things? My mind boggles. I think the less we know about this, the better.
Don’t worry, tuigirl, it wasn’t a whole truckload of things. It was a tiny capsule the size of a pill that fell through a screw/bolt hole that got loose. It was a component in a mining equipment I think. For a while it was scary that it might’ve lodged in someone’s tire or eaten by an animal. But luckily, they found it on the side of the road. Kudos to the searchers. 👍🏻⭐️ After watching Chernobyl, the whole radiation thing really scares me, the idea of getting a lethal dose in a matter of seconds is beyond terrifying. I bought a book called Midnight in Chernobyl which was a fascinating read.

1 of my fave bands literally in the last 30 mins announced a show in my home town.. They are part of the so called "Big 4" of metal bands.. They were my 1st metal concert back in Feb 1991 (32 years ago).. we took the next day off school as we were thrashed out and deaf.. Seen them about 6 times all up, touring in support of album no #16..

It's Daddy/Junior night tonight.. Mum has after hours teachers meeting so Junior will see her in the morning from school drop off this morning. We were singing along about 2 hours ago to Bee Gee's "How Deep Is Your Love".. they are the masters of the catchy song.
