Just in time for Christmas, the British Pantomime is to be considered for UNESCO listing as part of our cultural heritage: {Spoiler} 'Oh no it isn't!'Yes, really it is, but the joke was inevitable wasn't it? About time! 'Oh no it ' -- I've already done that joke haven't I.
One of the things I like best about Britain is the way we keep our traditions and go on enjoying them. Then we tell the rest of the world that these possibly eccentric things we do are culture worthy of official global recognition. It's not only the panto, apparently cheese-rolling may also be on the list. There are conventionally cultural things being considered for listing too, like playing the bagpipes, thatching, sea shanties and steel bands, but let's face it, the BBC headlined with panto for a reason.
Some day we will get The Fish-Slapping Dance recognised too, I'm sure of it. Watch out for the sea bass!

Right then, my Christmas check list:
Cards sent? Check. Presents bought? Check. Decorations up? Check.
Dinner ingredients ready? Check. Emergency supplies of chocolate, mince pies etc. hidden in the zero cabinet? Check. Earplugs for use in case of singing goblins? Check. And for this item, double check.
All set I think.
Merry Christmas everyone and I hope to see you at The Church on Ruby Road!

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Wherever you are, however you will or did celebrate it, I wish each and everyone of you a Happy Christmas. It has been a trying year, and the future is uncertain, but use this time to unwind and live in the moment.

Merry Christmas everyone and goodwill to all! Well, if I'm being honest, to almost all.
So, it came round to present-opening time and I opened mine. Seeing as how I chose it and ordered it from my favourite online giant retailer, for myself, and took delivery of it myself, there was no 'surprise' and so there seemed little point in opening the shipping box and wrapping the actual pressie. I checked the shipping code, yes that's the box, and the box then simply remained unopened for the last couple of weeks, until this afternoon.
Imagine my untrammelled delight on discovering not the rather nice new GPS unit I'd ordered, but an approximately £2 value plastic bricks toy for the slightly over 5's.
As it is Christmas Day, I have simply started the online returns process and said loudly and firmly: 'Of course, this must have been an honest mistake by a busy worker and I hope they don't get in too much trouble over it.'
So, please don't imagine I am now in spirit a Dalek attack squad, full of rage and exterminate-yness. It is Christmas Day after all.
No, imagine me as the 'Earthshock' Cybermen, marching onwards, step by implacable step, cold and determined. I will reach the bridge and get my refund. And it will be excellent.

Started Assassins Creed Mirage so far enjoying it.
Christmas was OK, I struggle with my emotions this time of year I don't feel the excitement anymore, too many loved ones passed on people I loved & respected who accepted me & my bipolar & weird moods.

Glad the day was ok. Don't feel any need to enjoy Christmas, it's nice for those who do, but plenty don't, either due to bereavements or all sorts of other reasons. Be content to just experience it however it lands for you. And remember, your moods aren't weird. What's weird is a society that expects us all to act like cookie-cutter clones of compliant contentness. You come by your emotions honestly and are entitled to feel them, anguishing though they may be at times.

Bipolar feels like the character The Eleven were there's different versions of me all experiencing various emotions it becomes mentally exhausting.
I know something inside me changed since dad's death, I feel numb, hollow & a longing emptiness, I had the father I wanted for about 4 years & I feel that was snatched from me in the direst of circumstances & that i didn't get closure.

Earworms, Mk 2
After one brief mention on another thread, I've now got the totally non-Christmassy tune of 'Ellie the Barmaid' running around in what Mr. Jago might describe as my noggin!
(And if you don't know it, I can only suggest investing in 'Jago & Litefoot' Vol VIII for a show at the New Regency you'll never forget! )

A rather amazing and thoughtful present from my buddy Sam for Christmas, an original Dalekmania era pin, still with backing card! Hands off, @stevo!

I'm so happy that on this forum at present, whether we love the topics of discussion, loathe them or find ourselves somewhat ambivalent, we're able to have a nice, polite conversation about it and disagree without descending into conflict.
