Finally some good news: My niece is out of immediate danger and is well and has even started eating again. I looks as if she is on the mend. What a relief. Now the whole family can breathe easier.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Just off the phone to my mum: she’s having a hip replacement tomorrow (she’s 81) and there has been more than the usual amount of concern from her doctors because of her age and her recent health conditions (she’s having a bad year, healthwise). My dad is also having an assessment with a dementia specialist (he’s 84). Both are downplaying them, which is out of character as they are usually pretty upfront and matter-of-fact about these things. My wife has also been ill with Ross River Virus over the last month and refuses to take any time off work to recover because she feels ok after a couple of days then feels guilty about not being at work and then goes back to work and works herself back into needing a couple days off to recover to the point where she is just able to go back to work. Rinse and repeat.

And I do know about parents and hiding their health issues...

No. No I did not. & you know I didn't. The monarchy is an outdated system & in respect of Barbados a symbol of its colonial past.

I got my new white stick, my friend got me some new masks - all good
White canes appear to have gone up in price by 7 quid or so since the last time one came to it's natural end. - not so good
Costa had sausage rolls - apple and pork, it was criminally nice.

RGB passed away. The Republican scum are plotting to ram through a nomineee to fill the vacancy, just 45 days before the election. This will be terrible for America.
Even a week ago, I might have said otherwise, but if they proceed with that then I hope the Democrats can take enough seats that they can expand the number of justices on the court to undo the Republicans' cheating (for those who don't follow American politics so much, they blocked Obama's nominee saying that if a vacancy on SCOTUS opens up in an election year, we should wait for the next president to be inaugurated to fill that vacancy).

R.I.P. Lee Kerslake. Drummer for Uriah Heep and the 1st 2 legendary "Blizzard Of Oz" albums (Until Sharon decided to have the drums and bass re-recorded so as to not pay royalties to him and Mr Daisley).
That drum intro, hell the whole drumming, on the song "Over The Mountain".. magic-a whole lot of magic.
Cancer sucks :-(

Today is my last day off from work in quite a while, so went to the cinema again for yet another triple-bill (on Saturdays I'd normally go to London to see a couple of plays but, well, Covid), all of which I enjoyed (barring an issue with the subtitles with the middle one), a listen to the first 'Dark Eyes' boxset and the latest episode of 'Midsomer Murders' (only seven months behind airing!) with my mother. The identities of neither murderer was a surprise to me (good ol' "narrowed it down to the guy I recognise" trope... =_=).

Mum’s hip replacement went well: should be home within a week/ 10 days. Dad’s cognitive assessment also good: “I’m not demented, I’ve got a test result that proves it!” Big sighs of relief.

I have woke up in a lovely hotel apartment it’s warm it’s cosy there’s a lot of white linen and towels...a power shower to beat power showers it’s probably the nicest I have stayed in. I had a lot of whisky last night some fabulous food and company it was sunny and same is expected today....
Edinburgh is lovely when you can stay the night and not have to rush to get the last train Back to Glasgow 😎🥰
