Thank you for posting this. I have all the set pre-ordered, but if it wasn’t for this forum I wouldn’t have got to hear this and I thought it was rather lovely! it’s a shame Big Finish didn’t think it was worth sharing on their own website.

That was great! I totally enjoyed this from start to finish. Pretty sure I liked Roy Gill's story the most but it was really a close call between all three. Definitely looking forward to more!

The Cars That Ate London!
That was just about what I hoped for! J&L is often (wrongly imo apart from a bit of Series VI) described as 'steampunk', but this did have that vibe - though 'electro-punk' would be more accurate I suppose! All three characters coming through strongly, lots of action, lots of hardware and LOTS of fun - it's rare I actually lol at an audio but this one was irresistible. Strax, you are my comedy hero! ( I accept your surrender, human primitive!)
(When Solak broke off from talking to Vastra at the scientific society meeting and walked away saying 'ah, Professor...' - was I the only one imagining it was Professor Litefoot he wanted to talk to?)
The 'moral message' was about as subtle as a Sontaran Kiss (like a 'Glasgow kiss', but with a helmet on) but I don't think the people of London would really have been put off electric cars by the experience - driverless cars on the other hand would seem a very risky idea after all this and I don't say I disagree!
Excellent opening story, yay I've subbed for 11 more of these and the next one is tonight!

The Cars That Ate London! is lightweight and it probably throws too much into the mix, but it’s good fun and it’s a lovely introduction to the Paternoster Gang’s series, yet isn’t an introduction to their characters, so there’s no retreading of familiar territory.
The characterisation of the trio is perfect. They feel authentic and I really like the expansion of their world, including their gadgets, lifestyle and atmosphere. They’re not authentically Victorian as Jago & Litefoot and that difference is crucial to me. I enjoy J&L in their Doctor Who crossover audios, but they’ve always been substantial enough for me and I’ve never dived into their range. The Paternoster Gang’s emphasis on sci-fi in a Victorian setting is, for me, much more appealing.
They’re all the expectations we have of the gang, but hearing them realised is great. As I said, it probably throws too much in one go, but it sets up their world nicely.
Looking forward to the rest.

Only made it 3/4 through The cars that ate London last night before falling asleep, but I agree with the above posts that it was great as a start. I enjoyed it a lot, and I also really like the light, slightly comedic tone. Well done. Really looking forward to the rest, but might have to wait a couple of days longer to get stuck into it, since I am going away tomorrow...

Having finished the first episode last night I did rather enjoy it, The second one seems to be shaping up nicely as well.
My concern for the series is the long shadow the Jago and Litefoot have cast over it. I look forward to seeing this series grow into it's own beast, and hope for it's sake it's a long time before we start getting J&L cameos.
I do hope that going forward, the continue to embrace the alien and absurd as they seem to be so far, and what I'd really like is for this series to further develop the cultures of the silurians and Sontarans further (similar to worf having a big effect on the development of the Klingons in TNG and beyond)
I look forward to a long series of boxsets with this trio!

I thought A Photograph to Remember was great. A good premise, the trio are well realised, as are their rival group. I was worried that it would all be a big gimmick, but they contrast nicely with the Paternoster Gang and have unique traits; not just carbon copies.
The actual plot is pretty much what I’d expect from this series in a nutshell. A mystery that Vastra investigates, whilst Jenny & Strax get roped into the same mystery in a different way, with the unique dynamic of the team coming into play.
I really like the soundtrack too. Some of the comedic moments are pure Murray Gold inspired.

A Photograph to Remember
This is the second time in a couple of weeks that we've been able to enjoy a new Roy Gill historical (plus alien influences) and it's another winner, very historical era-authentic as far as I can tell (in terms of the photography and the fascination with 'spirits'.) And like 'The Creeping Death' it introduced us to a new trio of characters who seemed instantly believable as individuals and as a group. I wished in the 10DAs that we could hear what happened next to Ivy, Richard and Terry and this time we already know 'The Bloomsbury Bunch' are destined to return!
The 'spirit photography' angle was perfectly of its time and I liked that the new Bunch were disruptive and clumsy in what they were trying to do, but not actually evil - and I hope they stay that way; a nuisance rather than a menace! Stonn thought he had a wheeze to make a few shillings with an ectoplasmic exhibition of Tom's "spirit" portaits of the rich and famous and Tom was doing it for art's sake, plus his business sideline of recording the 'dear departed' for their loved ones. If only Tom had been more organised in his filing system and not mixed up the plates of the quick and the dead...
But then we'd have missed out on a Victorian zombie story - an idea which was always going to be a winner imo, especially with such a great script! (I chortled at the line that 'Cardiff is very popular with aliens' )

Haven't purchased this yet and am trying to skim past spoilers, but I have one question - does it end on a cliffhanger or can it be purchased/enjoyed on its own? It's so tempting, but the fact that it was titled Heritage 1 (as opposed to Series 1) has me a little apprehensive about jumping in and potentially making a financial commitment.

No Cliff-hanger but the Interviews do say Its designed to have a story Arc of some kind over the 4 boxsets. Nothings hinted about what its supposed to be though

I'm sure it is being set up as a set of 4 but only because of a hint or two at the very end (until then I didn't suspect any arc), so you could enjoy each of the three stories in this set on their own (excellent) merits and decide later if you wanted to continue.
{Spoiler}That's right, no real clue yet as to whatever they were that were living under the Observatory. Just 'very old' and from Vastra's scanner readings of - something - at the end of 'The Ghosts of Greenwich' I think they're clearly an Arc waiting to happen! But no idea where it will go!

Quite enjoyable set with great fun writing. The stories themselves were not that original, but that is made up by meeting these great characters again and just how fun it was. I think I liked the last story ghosts of Greenwich best- for me it was the creepiest and most atmospheric. And since I am in that mood at the moment I really appreciated that this was more comedic than serious drama.

Love it and can't wait for the next set. What will they come up with? My favourite was The Cars that Ate London! Because Strax got to sing a Sontaran song about dying in battle (which sounded a lot like O my Darling Clementine!)
I wish the clip of them with the phonograph was included in the boxset, maybe it could be an extra on download?

Great set. Thoroughly enjoyable, and had me laughing out loud a number of times. I have always had my reservations about this bunch, the idea of them seems a tad hard to swallow, however this worked extremely well. I think that they are just different enough from J & L to satisfy me, although I am looking forward to the inevitable Jago appearance.
kAnd I have decided that I LOVE Neve McIntosh. After her narration in the 12th Doctor Short Trip, her appearance in Survivors and then this. I really do think she's fantastic.

Loving this set so far. Did anyone get a John Hurt vibe from Stonn?

I don’t have a lot to say about The Ghosts of Greenwich. I didn’t think it was brilliant or bad, just a solid story. It might have been a bad decision to have two ghost stories back-to-back, especially given how much I enjoyed A Photograph Remember. The ending felt a little rushed too.
But it’s a good set! Whilst the Paternoster Gang are really well characterised here, they’ve gone for the more broader aspects. I hope they get some expansion in the future sets, as that’s the one thing that’ll make this series really shine.

I loved this, from start to finish.
I can't wait to hear more of the Bloomsbury Bunch. Lots of laugh out loud lines, especially "Together in electric dreams."
