I should have said "Who is everyone's favorite companion, and Tim who is your favorite after Nyssa?"

Liz Shaw but I also really like Grace Holloway, touch choice.

I should have said "Who is everyone's favorite companion, and Tim who is your favorite after Nyssa?" My second and third favourite companions after Nyssa are as follows. Rose Tyler (played by Billie Piper), who was the first 'Doctor Who' companion I ever saw and Sarah Jane Smith (played by Elisabeth Sladen).

1. Ace 2. Evelynn 3. Lucie Miller 4. Sarah Jane 5. Leela/Captain Jack
It's easier to list my least favourites
1. Tie with Adric and Amy 2. Tie with Romanna 2/ Clara (depending on the EP)
I can't stand smugness and no charm in a companion!

1. Ian and Barbara (can't seperate them) 2. Jo 3. River 4. Clara Interesting choices why Jo in a grouping with River and Clara they're polar opposites I'd thought?

Jamie
I also very fond of Sarah Jane since she was the first Doctor Who character I really fell in love with (and I started with New Who). That being said some of the things I read about her at the time being the first modern feminist companion I now consider false & unfair to the companions who came before her.
Edit: On audio Evelyn with Charley, Lucie, & Hex all strong seconds.
New Who would be Donna, Rory, & Amy.

Rose is my all time favorite companion.
Also a big fan of:
Jo Sarah Jane Leela K-9 Romana Nyssa Tegan Peri Donna Clara
I don't really consider them companions because they have their own things going, but I also love Captain Jack, River, and The Brig.

My favourite 'Doctor Who' companion is Nyssa (played by Sarah Sutton). Tim. Should have put money on this. Billy loves Nyssa is as certain as the Pope being Catholic and the sky being blue.

For the Classic series, Sarah Jane is a strong character. I do feel a more realistic approach was taken with Adric though. He wanted something different, wound up far from family and home, expectations defied in a bad way, and ended up a petulant teenager trying to get attention and got himself killed trying to prove a point. I can feel something of his character, one boy trying to gain approval (sometimes in the wrong way).
New series is definitely Donna Noble. A fully fleshed character able to lead her own thread of a plot-line, a wonderful family (who wouldn't want Wilf as their Gramps?) and an unforgettable personality that flourished with the Doctor and his travels. Which makes her fate all the more saddening.

Weird. I was sure I posted in this thread but I don't see it. So here goes.
I absolutely love so many companions so it's hard to choose, but here goes: Classic: Jamie (although Sarah Jane and Leela are at the top as well.) Audio: Lucie and Evelyn Modern: Donna

Favourite compnions? Ok then, on TV; Jo Grant and Sarah-Jane Smith. I can't really separate them as I love them both. On BF audio; Evelyn Smythe, by far!
